The DJ Pod Cast

ALEXA GRÆ's work is a combination of artistic disciplines informed by specialized academic training in music composition and opera. Themes of deconstructing classical forms, beliefs about the feminine and masculine, and channeling greater collective consciousness find an evolving presence in ALEXA GRÆ's work. Their mission is to identify moments of pure imagination and innocent creation, harnessing the immediate kinship it creates in order to draw us all toward something divine, something as yet to be defined.

"This jazz aristocrat has the kind of chops that stop you in your tracks." – VIBE Magazine

Originally known for her stand-out guest features for Chance the Rapper and Vic Mensa, Chicago's Lili K established herself as a knockout solo star with the 2015 release of her self-produced, full-length debut album RUBY. She’s done numerous TV appearances on ABC and FOX, has performed at major festivals including Made In America, North Coast Music Festival, and Pitchfork, and has garnered glowing praise from VIBE, Huffington Post, EW, Consequence of Sound, and many more top-tier music tastemakers. Jay Z’s entertainment streaming service Tidal dubbed Lili as their very first “Tidal Rising” artist, and the Chicago Reader named her “Best Jazz Musician” in 2015.

After stepping out of the spotlight to record her second album with The Lili K Band, Lili landed a recurring role as a background vocalist on Season 3 of Fox's hit show Empire, and has been busy behind the scenes doing songwriting and vocal production for artists like The Suffers and Dafina Zeqiri.

Lili and the Lili K Band are currently working on their second studio album, Planet of Flowers. It is slated to release in 2019.

Dreampop, Indiepop, Twee

Artist Bio (100 words or less): Star Tropics began as a bass & guitar duo huddled around a drum machine and has since evolved into a four-piece indiepop band determined to write carefree, primary-colored pop songs. Blending boy/girl vocals on top of jangly Rickenbacker leads, a healthy dose of fuzzy rhythms and the pulse of a driving beat, their songs can be described as equal parts celebratory and introspective.

Fauvely is the project of Chicago-based singer-guitarist Sophie Brochu, who creates deeply personal dream-pop music. The title of her debut EP, "Watch Me Overcomplicate This" speaks to the confessional tone of songs that range from delicately self-effacing to hauntingly sad. The band, which includes Dale Price, Dave Piscotti, Scott Cortez, & Chace Wall, has cultivated a strong presence in Chicago, sharing the stage with internationally acclaimed artists Stella Donnelly, Gemma Ray, Ryley Walker, Laura Veirs, and Ultimate Painting.

"This is What the Living Do" will be released in May 2019 on Diversion Records.
