  • Evidence and Testimony on SSI, you got that Musk? (Hour 2)

We return to the conversation of last hour on Social Security. Following unverified and unsourced claims about massive fraud in Social Security from the musky powers that be, we try to ascertain the truth. Are there in fact tens of millions of “deceased people who are no longer living” receiving SSi checks? Has the system been overrun by fraud, abuse, and corruption? Well, we hear personal testimony and attestations to the contrary, over and over again, from our audience. They share stories with us of their experiences with the immediate revocation and recuperation of Social Security funds following loved ones’ deaths. And the facts align with their stories. So folks, when you hear these claims, look for the evidence. Hear the testimony from people with real experience. And don’t take what this bogus “dEpArTmEnT of eFfIcIeNcY” says at face value. They’ve demonstrated a clear lack of accountability.

  • Where's the Evidence??? (Hour 1)

Maggie Daun joins us for a bit of overtime. As usual, we turn to Maggie for advice and clarity on a few trending legal cases. Today, we look at New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ entanglement with the second Trump administration. In what appears to be a clear quid pro quo, Trump advised the DoJ to dismiss federal corruption charges against Adams... without prejudice, meaning Trump will maintain a veritable sword of Damocles over Adams should the mayor backtrack on anything he’s promised the 47th President. So the question becomes: should New York Governor Kathy Hochul remove Adams from his position? In a rare moment, Dom and Maggie disagree.

In the bottom of the hour, we turn to unsupported claims from shadow President Musk on Social Security. Without evidence, specifically without evidence, Musk claims massive fraud and abuse in Social Security.

  • Make Law Matter Again (Hour 2)

Harvey Kaye, Professor Emeritus of Democracy and Justice Studies at UWGB, and our favorite Delano Democrat joins us for the hour. It seems this administration doesn’t believe in law, nor order. Yeah that’s right, this isn’t the party of law and order. It’s the party of assault, battery, and corruption. Still, it’s shocking that law doesn’t seem to matter at all. We begin the hour wrestling with the King of America’s- oh sorry, President Trump’s- declaration of immunity from lawlessness as he ‘saves the country.’ We don’t think that logic holds. On any ground. Then, checking in on corruption and collusion in New York with Mayor Eric Adams. After cozying up to Trump, the president called for the Southern District of New York to drop corruption charges against the mayor. In response, multiple lawyers and four deputy mayors have resigned. Is this boldness and resistance? Or paving the way for Trump’s chosen lackeys to step in?

Next, where are Democratic leaders? In all this chaos, we need firm guidance and action on the part of our elected legislative representatives. And it’s been sorely lacking.

We end the day, of course, with something good. If you need a reason to go out and do something for yourself, something fearless, do it for Gilda.

  • Uncertainty and Unknown Consequences (Hour 1)

Let’s get this week rolling! We begin with a recap of local matters in Wisconsin, from the upcoming election for State Superintendent of Public Instruction, to tariffs. Tomorrow, February 18th, is the Spring primary, where we’ll vote on which two candidates will advance to the general election for SSPI. Currently three candidates vie for the spot, incumbent Jill Underly, progressive-aligned challenger Jeff Wright, and conservative voucher-backed challenger Brittney Kinser. Hear a bit from them in Check your voter registration and what else is on your ballot at myvote.wi.gov.

Then, what effect will tariffs have on Wisconsin business and manufacturing? Well, there’s just no way to know. There’s too much uncertainty and too many unknown consequences, says conservative business lobbyist Kurt Bauer. After that, a brief touch in on the race for Wisconsin Supreme Court. Candidate Judge Brad appears to beg conservative megadonors to start funding an ad campaign.

Finally, we check in on the nationwide protests today opposing the current presidential administration and shadow presidency of the richest person in the world.
