Dr James Whorley is an American author from Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Florida in the US. He was born in 1961 to Charles and Dorothy Whorley, he has five siblings, and the family life back then was overall happy and lively; but like in all families then it was not without its upsets and difficulties. Dr James (Doctor of Theology) right from an early age firmly believed that his destiny was to be a pastor following several incidents that nearly took his life. At nineteen he became a Christian and from that day to the present day firmly believes a life based on Christianity has sustained well. At the tender age of twenty-one he married Ora and they have been blessed with four children and five grandchildren. 

Throughout his whole life Dr James has done a variety of jobs, from being employed, Self-employed, both for non-profit and profit organisations. Dr James has run his own construction company as well and all running alongside his pastoral duties for the Highway Church, a following which has meant so much to both him and his wife right from the tender age of twenty-four. Now, for me that’s dedication to the Lord’s work.

Dr James continues to play an active part not only in his local church but in the wider community as well.

The Book

The book has thirteen chapters, and each chapter is divided into three sessions. The purpose of the book as far as I can determine is to give the reader a step-by-step guide to the world of Christianity from the ideological concept to being fully engaged in what society would see as the righteous path of the Lord’s teachings. For me this book is perfect for those looking to follow a Christian life, they can read a session, refer to the biblical references Dr James alludes to in the text and then reflect on what has been said by addressing the questions at the end. The book is perfect for a group discussion on a weekly basis for novices to the faith, those looking to enrich their faith and those wishing to return to faith having taken an absence of leave for whatever reason. The book talks about, calling, following, love, faith, the kingdom of God, discipleship, the last scene and many other topics relating to a Christian life.

For the purpose of this podcast, we’re going to concentrate on the following chapters to give you a flavour of what this book is about:

Chapter 1: Knowing and Understanding your Calling.
Chapter 4: Love.
Chapter 7: Faith.
Chapter 9: Spirit, Soul and Body
Chapter 12: Great Sorrow as has Never been seen upon the Earth before/Rapture.

An Inspiring read with very interesting theological conceptualizations.
