On today's episode, it seems only fitting to talk about the future on New Year's Eve. I sat down and talked with Christy Landwehr who is very well accredited Master Riding Instructor and NRHA Sponsorship Director to name a few of her titles. 

Lesson programs play such a vital role for so many riders in the equine industry and a lot of us can remember that first lesson pony or horse we rode for the first time that we fell in love with and who changed our lives forever! In this episode, Christy and I discuss how what defines a lesson horse today has changed and how trainers in specific disciplines can do more to introduce new riders to the sport of riding. How open and honest communication between instructors and parents is essential to the safety of the student and for the running of the instructor's business, how thinking creatively can help attract parents to lesson programs and so many more topics. 

As we look into the 2026 and all the hopes and goals we have for the year, it is important to be having these type of conversations to remember that a student's first experience in the saddle is positive for them to continue to grow and thrive in the industry!

She is an award winning journalist, photogragher, author and the smile reining competitors love to see at horse shows! She has truly built such a beautiful life and career and influenced everyone around her greatly! How creativity is so helpful in the promotion and growth of the equine and western industries. As well as in managing horse shows, especially when unexpected obstacles come up! Whitney Lloyd is the founder and owner of MarkWest Denim and as a horse girl and rider herself, she saw a need to create a riding jean for women that would help fix a lot of the common issues a lot of us girls have in the saddle from our jeans rubbing and giving us sores to having the perfect place to keep our phone while we are riding! 

Whitney shares her story of how horses shaped and influenced her life growing up riding on her grandfather's ranch and taking lessons, the design process, how MarkWest is supporting the industry and the community and so much more!

I know I am a day earlier than when I usually bring you a new episode, but I am just too excited about today's episode! 

This topic is something that has been on my heart to do an episode about for a long time and I knew I needed the right people to bring on to have this conversation with and boy did I pick the right people! Returning to the podcast from Season 1, Lauren and Ellie from Elevate Your Ride not only have the knowledge, but the experience to back up everything they share and talk about to help riders from a fitness and mindset perspective as you heard in our first episode together. Today's episode comes to you the day after my birthday and at the start of 4th of July weekend! I am joined by two returning guests this week Christa Lafayette and Laura Simiele of Etalon to introduce some exciting additions to their programs, the new research they have found and published about Roan Horses, and the launch of their July Promo! 

Roan horses are so uniquely beautiful with their eye-catching appearance and they have a long history in many different breeds of horses. Until now a lot of the research that was done previously about them was not published or we could not source it. That is where Christa and her team have stepped in to test and discover fascinating information about Roans and their genetic makeup. 

As a color genetics nerd, I learned so much from our conversation and it was so much fun talking with them again. I am so thankful that they chose me to have this important discussion that I believe will have a huge impact on the equine industry!

On Today's episode, I am sharing a conversation I had with a lady who also is a horse crazy lady like me, but that is where are familiarity ends because although we share the same last name we are not related.

Cassidy Carpenter is a Co-owner of Olive Insurance Agency in Lubbock, TX that she has been very successful in running with her business partner going on 10 years now. She has developed quite the career specializing in equine and commercial insurance, but in this episode we focused on the equine side of course. Through her years in business she has seen a wide variety of claims and really built a team of agents and clients around her that she loves and works 24/7 for! 

She is so passionate about advocating for her clients' needs, educating them so they understand everything about their policies, working closely with carriers about what is working and what needs to change and more. We talk about so many other topics in this episode from Equine disease outbreaks to her latest cooking obsession! I had so much fun talking with Cassidy and I learned so much more about Equine Insurance that I didn't know before our conversation! 

Equine insurance isn't the most glamorous topic in the industry, but as Cassidy says in the episode it is life insurance for your horse and as horse crazy people we want to make sure that the people taking care of helping us protect our horses are communicating with us clearly and honestly so we can continue to enjoy what we love to do!
