I took away so many thoughts and opinions after seeing The Barbie Movie starring Margot Robbie! It is such a powerful statement that needs to be made in 2023 and I have seen the reviews from those who have closed their minds to the views Greta Gerwig worked hard to try and show in this movie and unfortunately their are those who don't see that! However, I see a lot of parallels between women in the horse industry and the commentary this movie was trying to make about how we as women are seen in this world! 

• Although, we see a lot of women working and riding in this world we still get overshadowed by men!
• We have come along way in society as women in terms of career and life, but we struggle to be taken seriously and been seen as more than horse crazy little girls!
• Barbie movie showed us that it is okay to be seen as a professional, but to enjoy the freedom and beauty of being a woman without the pressures to be put into a box men like to put us in! 
• Anyone who says that this movie isn't a true representation of  women in society today needs to watch it again with and really listen to what they are saying!
• This movie also inspired me about how I found my niche for how I want to promote my podcast and the horse industry and stand out among the other equine podcasts!

Hey Cowgirls! I have a back to back episode for you today! 

I am very excited to share today's episode with you as I am talking about a topic that I am very passionate about in my life and that is judging! I love that I got to have a conversation about it with Patti Carter the Sr. Director of Education & Officials at NRHA (National Reining Horse Association). This week's episode I had the opportunity to talk with someone who is very passionate about improving the equine industry for the better and making horses more accessible to the general public whether from the APHA office or at shows! He talks about the importance of finding new ways to do better by our owners, exhibitors, and the community around us. I took so much away from my conversation with Billy Smith the Executive Director of the American Paint Horse Association! He really gets the bigger picture that if we find ways to get more education about horses out to the public, it will help everyone from the kids just starting out to our legislators in office creating laws that impact the industry! This week's episode is very exciting as I will be sharing with you my conversation with  a young woman who few years ago took a leap of faith and packed up her life as a filmmaker, actress, and producer in LA to begin a career as an assistant racehorse trainer in Louisiana! Anna has such a heart for racehorses, the industry, and promoting the sport to the younger generations to help bring the community together! 

I feel so inspired by her story to not be afraid to just go for it and try something new even if it takes some hard work to get there it is always worth it in the end because you never know what will come from it! I hope you will as well!

We all know that a new show season can come with many different feelings or excitement, ambition, nerves, anticipation,  and more. This is the time of year when we are all planning our goals for the year and the steps to accomplish them! On this episode I discuss six tips to help you prepare for the upcoming year of competition and to help set you up for success to make it possible for you to achieve those goals. Whether you are preparing for your very first show or rodeo, planning a comeback to the arena, or this is a whole new season for you I feel that you will take something away from this episode! 

Some of the tips I discuss in this week's episode are how to invest in your horse community and the importance of sportsmanship in competition, inspecting your tack and vehicles, ways to improve your riding out of the saddle, and more.

On this week's episode I am talking to one of my dear friends Kelcey McNamee she is a wife, a momma, a cowgirl, and a barrel racer. She truly embodies what it means to put everything into your passions and your goals. Kelcey inspires me with how she is trusting God with the path He has set before her on this journey, but remembering that that is only part of who God made her to be. "This is what we do it does not define who we are." She is exactly who I thought of for you to hear from when I started this podcast as she understands the big picture of what it takes to grow the industry and keep it strong for future generations. It takes everyone working together in order for the community to grow and succeed. That there is no shame in asking for help when you need it and that money doesn't always buy you the world championship or title! If you have a calling on your heart from God and a strong work ethic there is nothing you cannot do! I had so much fun talking to Kelcey in this episode and I hope you take away just as much as I did from our conversation. I also hope you feel inspired by her story!

Welcome to The Educated Cowgirl podcast! I am so excited to start this journey with you to help educate, promote and inspire the equine industry and bring us closer together as community! I will be uploading a new episode every other Thursday with new topics, and hopefully interviewing some amazing guests that are working and thriving in the equine industry to help make a name for themselves and promoting the community to make the industry better!
