There are so many ways to pursue big game, but many of us get locked in to our own methods that we are comfortable with. Yes, tree stands are effective, but getting down and "taking the fight to them" (as our guest puts it) is something we need to embrace. Spot and Stalk hunting needs to have a place in your hunting tool kit.

Trevon Stoltzfus has pretty much done it all. From Olympic level wrestling, professional bull riding, to now chasing big game around the country, Trevon is always seeking a challenge and looking to conquer any and all adversities. He is co-host of Outback Outdoors, the #inspiredwild podcast, and an all around outdoorsman. The guys at Outback have been putting together hunting media for quite a while, and have really mastered the western "Spot and Stalk" style of hunting.

We chatted with Trevon about all aspects of spot and stalk. This podcast is a long one, but it is jam packed full of information!

Wow! As you may know, Jeff Sturgis is a Whitetail property guru. Our discussion today does nothing but solidify that notion. What's best is that Jeff is humble, never speaks in absolutes, and is always encouraging. So many "habitat guys" talk so much about "small property management" and refer to 60 or 80 acre parcels. For us, that would be a huge property! Let's face it, being able to afford any land is a huge step. For most of us, 5-40 acres seem so much more feasible and relatable. We called up Jeff to get a more realistic, real world, and rational idea of what a hunter can expect if they seek to purchase a small property like this. It just might surprise you how much positivity Jeff has for pieces land like this.

Fresh off of a perspective shift, we assess or highly successful weekend of Turkey hunting in north Texas. For K.C., Turkeys have always been a species of opportunity. Targeting them during the thunder of spring has a way of changing a hunter's outlook on these awesome confounding birds.

It's finally warming up! The Crappie are heading to the shallows, the Chikasaw Plums are blooming, and the Eastern Bluebirds are starting to nest. Spring is in the air!

This time of year is full of energy. There is so much happening at once. As I type this, I have tabs open for gardening, map scouting shed antlers, western tag draws statistics, and multiple DNR websites. There is so much to do, but don't rush through it. Today on the podcast we discuss a lot of what we need to be thinking about this time of year. We cover our layman's approach to drawing tags for big game, touch on a little bit of habitat talk that we all can appreciate, and cover just a little bit about a special duck hunt Tyler was able to go on and document. He made an awesome film about that hunt and the story behind one of the attendees. Oh, BTW we learn how Tyler avoided Mexican jail.

Jonathan McGraw was awoken by his brother over the Thanksgiving holiday in 2018 as he was told that his house was on fire. The next hours were tough to watch, the next days and weeks were tough to endure, but the community of Sulphur Springs, Texas surrounded the McGraw family and supported them through these trying times. Watch as he tells the captivating story and as this group shoots lights-out one morning, keeping the motif of being "On Fire".

Today, we speak with "Bowhunting Fiend" Greg Litzinger. Greg seems to have a similar hunting situation to us here in East Texas and probably a lot of guys out there in that there is not tons of big ag, the bucks are modest in size, and crossing paths at close range with them is like finding a needle in a haystack. We discuss public land hunting on the east coast... mountains, big woods, salt marshes, and how Greg targets mature bucks in all of these areas. Most notably, we get details on hunting buck bedding which is all the rage these days.

Don't forget we have new merch in the store, so look below to find the website link and get you a shirt!

Oh the places you will go with a bible and a bow!

Today we are talking a wild look into some aspects of our equipment, specifically Broadheads. John Lusk is an engineer by training and a pastor by passion. He also is a brilliant mind when it comes to evaluating the sharp end of our sticks. We hear a little about how John got where he is, hear some really cool hunting stories from near and far, and then we get into some thought-provoking aspects of broached selection. This episode is jam packed with info, but unfortunately we couldn't cover it all. Look for part Deuce coming later this spring or summer!
