The Element Hunting Podcast

Pete Muennich of Stone Glacier is one cool dude! To obtain wisdom at a young age means that you have to get out and accumulate a ton of experiences. That's exactly what Pete has done. The guy killed a mountain goat in his early 20s!

Pete moved out west for college and has since developed a deep love for Backcountry hunting. Formerly working at Schnee's, and now the sales manager at Stone Glacier; Pete really has a great grasp for what is quality gear and also what it takes to survive and thrive when you are way back.

What a great guest we were blessed to have recently in well-known outdoor writer Tony Peterson. Tony has written for tons of publications along the lines of Outdoor life, Peterson's bowhunting, Meateater, etc. and has recently started a new podcast, The Hunt For Real Podcast. The first female appearance on The Element Podcast did not disappoint! Jess McGlothlin is a dang ROCKSTAR! She has traveled the world a few times over as a photographer and her articles for OnX are full of compelling stories and useful information. Her experience in a variety of climates and sketchy locales where there is no roads, cell service, or power make her the ultimate source of info when it comes to being prepared for whatever you might encounter in the backcountry. Her ingenuity and 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' mentality are a breath of fresh air in an age where everyone seems to be following someone else.

Tony Trietch might just be living every hunter's dream. He spends all fall chasing giant critters all over the USA and racking up a nice taxidermy bill every year while doing so. Truthfully Tony has killed some monsters, but it seems he is in it for something more. He is a guy who works hard most of the year so that he can fulfill his quest for adventure each Autumn. Balancing business, relationships, and the outdoors can be a blitzkrieg, but Tony Keeps it cool and manages to accomplish every season what most folks would only dream of doing.

Today on the podcast we have our good buddy Zach Ferenbaugh of The Hunting Public. As far as industry friends go, Zach is one of our favorites. Zach was one of the first guys we interviewed on the podcast and we're still having phone service issues!! We discuss things such as spring and summer fishing plans, expensive kayaks, hunter greed, solo hunting vs. hunting with friends, public land turkeys and deers, and the land of milk and honey.

The Gila hype is real, but every day lately, hunting public land in Texas has been creeping into our thoughts. In this episode, we assess the problems we encountered or observed and talk about how we can overcome them to achieve our goals of shooting bucks over 3 years old on our public lands in the Lonestar State.

Sometimes things are just a little fuzzy for guys like us. Thats when it pays to have great friends like Erik Barber to clear things up for us! Erik is one of the friendliest guys your likely to meet in the woods and he is liable to have a big public land buck in the back of the truck.

We met Erik a while back when he was at Midwest Whitetail and now he is getting after it at one of the most exciting companies in the industry, Vortex Optics! We wanted to get a real world spiel on the ins and outs of glass, and Erik delivered!
