Lacey recently took a social media detox consisting of a week off of all social platforms and was able to gain some great insights. In this episode she shares those insights, what she learned about herself, and why you may want to try a social media detox yourself!
Lacey shares on:
If you feel traumatized in any way by things you see on social media, get stuck in a rut of scrolling, feel guilty about yourself after consuming content, or it’s become habitual to go to certain apps on your phone when you have free time, it may be time to consider a social media detox! AND, remember, what is portrayed in the media (both mainstream and social) is not always the full picture. In fact, it rarely is! Don’t allow what you see to scare you away from your profession or your life.
In this episode, Lacey shares a personal experience that led her down the path of better understanding delegation to do it more effectively. Delegation is not something new nurses are taught and is oftentimes one of the biggest challenges she sees for her mentees so she wanted to dive deeper into the subject. Lacey also shares how communication plays a critical role in delegation, who and how to delegate to if you don’t have nursing assistants on your floor, and creating a team camaraderie.
Today Lacey is talking all about how to build relationships with providers as a new nurse. Working with providers can all be really intimidating when first starting out as nurses but the truth is they really need you just as much, if not more, than you need them! Lacey shares her best tips and practices for shifting your mindset when talking to physicians and gaining comfort in building rapport and relationships with your team so that you can give the best patient care possible!
Topics include:
Remember - they are your teammates that have been training differently from you! You are smart and worthy of sitting at the table with any provider! What you bring is important and they need your assessments and skills there, too!
Lacey recently polled her Instagram audience on mental health and the data was quite interesting. About 2000 people voted and 79% of those people stated that they experience anxiety frequently yet only 18% said they seek out therapy for their anxiety. After diving a little deeper she found that the reason why the number of those seeking out therapy was so low was due to three main reasons; cost, unsure of how to find a good therapist, or social shame.
