This is a great exercise to go through because it can help you determine where you need to delegate, where you need to cross-train and where you need to set a standard operating procedure. These standard procedures and processes allow your company to function and operate without you. It’s important because this is what scaling is about – you must get out of the weeds of your business to keep growing and evolving.

Sometimes as you are going through things you don’t know why things are happening and my question for you today is, “What if these are the dots?” They might not make sense to us right now, but fast-forward into the future these are the dots and we’ll be able to connect them, and they will all make sense as a part of the journey. Try not to overanalyze anything now, but instead trust the process and it will all make sense as you grow into your future.

Welcome to this week’s Entrepreneur Express Tip in 5 minutes or less! Today I am sharing two tips for time efficiencies as you are thinking about your 2022 calendar planning. The first strategy is what I call “A-B.” This is when you have either days or weeks labeled as “A” days/weeks or “B” days/weeks. For example, your “A Day” will be highly intensive and business-focused day. This is when you take meetings, network, record podcasts, whatever you need to do for your business. Then “B Day” will be less business, but instead more downtime for you. This will be strategic thinking or catching up on email – things that do not require meetings or client-facing activities. I hope this sparks a good strategy for “on-days” and “off days.” The second strategy is time blocking a “CEO Day” for you. For me, I do it every Friday and it is a dedicated day where no meetings are scheduled and you take time to officially regroup. You might not even be spending time in the business, but on other things for self-care like coaching, continued learning, hobbies, etc. Hopefully one, or both, of these tactics can be useful in your business and help reduce the overwhelmed feeling and make your time more efficient and valuable.

Today I am sharing some thoughts on the importance of being part of a mastermind and/or peer-advisory roundtable (same thing – different name depending on the group!). I have been part of one since 2009 and I would never have gotten to this point in my life and businesses without having a group of like-minded entrepreneurs to hold me accountable, challenge me and provide a safe place to be vulnerable.

So, what are these groups? They are typically a small group of people in non-competing industries or similar companies in different geographic locations – never competing companies. They are there for you to have a seat and give yourself time to sit and process things on a monthly basis. These masterminds are where you show up to be you, process a leadership topic and do a clarifying segment where you can uncover any issues that need to be processed and help you find clarity.

Whatever you are looking for, please know this is something that should be good for you. These groups need to be a space for you to be open and honest so you can get the most out of it for you.
