  • After ‘failed’ Converge rollout, TSP participants file class-action lawsuit

You knew it would come to this. Thrift Savings Plan participants are suing the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board and its recordkeeping contractor Accenture Federal Services. Seven participants filed a class-action lawsuit claiming that the board and Accenture botched TSP’s major system update last summer, costing serious damage to hundreds, if not thousands, of participants. Federal News Network’s Drew Friedman joined the Federal Drive with more.

  • Sometimes the defense-industrial complex looks like a tug-of-war

A new problem has emerged for the long-troubled F-35 joint strike fighter program. It concerns spare parts, and who accounts for them. Are they government-furnished parts or should they be accounted for under a contract. The Joint F-35 program office and its suppliers don't always agree, with the result that millions of dollars worth of parts seemingly vaporize. We get details from the director of financial management and assurance issues at the Government Accountability Office, Kristen Kociolek.

  • Diplomacy takes more than diplomats. It also takes data

For the second year, the State Department has recognized employees who enable better use of data in the art of diplomacy. Data for diplomacy is both an awards program and a part of the department's modernization plan. This year's group award went to people in the Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations for their work in a program called the Conflict Observatory. Eric White got the details from team lead Susan Wolfinbarger.

  • Two-thirds of USPS rural carriers see significant pay cuts under new system

Two-thirds of the Postal Service’s rural letter carriers are having their pay cut. A new pay system has been in the works between Postal management and union officials for more than a decade. But rural carriers say the Postal Service hasn’t given them or their managers adequate training on the new system, and that they stand to lose thousands of dollars a year in pay. Now Senators have joined in the questioning. Federal News Network’s Jory Heckman joined the Federal Drive with the latest.

  • AI will save time during the hiring process, but companies must be aware of potential bias within the algorithms.

Recently, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) released a technical assistance document which laid out certain confines employers will need to operate in if they're using artificial intelligence during the hiring process. There have already been a few cases where unintended discrimination affected some companies hiring initiatives.
