Texas football had a lot to work on over the bye week as the Longhorns look to rebound from back-to-back, late game losses this weekend when they hit the road for Waco, Texas to take on No. 16 ranked Baylor. Prior to the season, few people would have expected this week’s road game to be a challenge for Texas with Baylor coming off of a 2-7 record in Year 1 of the Dave Aranda era in 2020, but the Bears have proven to be no joke this season as they remain in contention in the Big 12 title race.
The Flagship Podcast gets the week started off with a loaded show as Horns247 columnist Chip Brown and managing editor Taylor Estes talk about the Longhorns progress during the bye week, which included a lot of focus on the team’s psyche coming off of the back-to-back losses against Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. The Flagship weighs in on the key areas of focus for Texas entering the latter stretch of the 2021 season and what to make of the offense, including the latest on redshirt junior QB Casey Thompson. The Flagship discusses how Thompson needs to show why he earned the starting QB role after his up and down performances against TCU and Oklahoma State as he leads this team to back-to-back road games against ranked opponents in Baylor and Iowa State.
After a short break, The Flagship returns with our ‘Love it or leave it’ segment, with this week’s topics focused on why the safety position needs to step it up for the defense, if Thompson’s job is on the line with another poor performance and more!
