Texas football has made it through the first complete week of fall camp as the Longhorns prepare for the upcoming season. First-year head coach Steve Sarkisian was not too thrilled with his offense’s performance coming out of the first scrimmage of preseason training camp and is looking for substantial improvement this week leading up to scrimmage No. 2 this Saturday.
On this week’s episode of The Flagship Podcast, Horns247 columnist Chip Brown and managing editor Taylor Estes return with a loaded show starting off with the latest intel on the quarterback position. Redshirt freshman QB Hudson Card and redshirt junior QB Casey Thompson have been battling it out, though Card got the first-team reps in both Monday and Tuesday’s practices. Chip and Taylor weigh in on the progress of Card and what Thompson needs to do to take control of the starting role. The Flagship also weighs in on the latest concerns at wide receiver and guys who have stood out at the position, while also discussing players who have work to do to get into the rotation.
On the flip side of the ball, Chip and Taylor address the guys who have stood out on defense and weigh in on the progression of some of the key transfers the Longhorns added prior to the start of the 2021 season.
After a quick break, The Flagship returns with this week’s edition of Love it or Leave it, with topics including if the shift in QB reps means Card is running away with the starting role, how stout the defensive front could be for the Longhorns this season and what the biggest areas of concern are for the offense at this point in fall camp.
Texas fans won’t want to miss this loaded episode of The Flagship Podcast.
