Do you ACTUALLY love your job? A lot of people claim this to be true, which sounds great, but what does it take to LOVE your job?

How does your current job measure up..?

Each and every one of us has a goal to grow our social channel(s). To reach the next 500 follower milestone, get the swipe up feature, get more likes than a competitor… etc. Whatever that goal may be; how much of your strategy to get there revolves around community management?? The answer is most likely - not enough. Which is why this small, yet positive (and hopefully helpful) rant about community management is 100% necessary for your ears to hear today.

3 practical ways to step up your community management game:

1. Less shouting, more engaging -- Put yourself in the shoes of a single follower. Think about what THEY want to learn, or why in world they’re following you in the first place. Create your content from that perspective and it’s WAY more likely to build engagement.

2. Respond to every comment and DM in a timely manner. -- No excuses.

3. Get off of your account and/or page and check out what other people are doing. --Follow your followers. Comment on their stuff. Be genuinely curious. People will remember that more than they remember what you actually posted yesterday.

Capped off the week with an interview with one of our favorite people, Joanna Schrupp! Both Tyler and I have worked with Joanna in many different capacities over the years. Frankly, the odds of being involved in a community oriented project and NOT crossing paths with Joanna are pretty dang low.

As you'll hear in the episode, Joanna is what they call a mover and shaker. She's not afraid to go after what she wants and take on big challenges like bringing new life to a 100+ year old state hospital. We talked about her childhood on the farm, how she navigated the "not knowing" during her college years, parenting lessons, and the importance of staying true to yourself when it comes to building a network.

Per usual, it was another fun discussion with Joanna over "coffee."

Feeling stressed in the fast paced shuffle of the day-to-day work and life dance is pretty inevitable. So, when you're starting to "feel it" - you know you have that feeling in your mind or gut that's evidently telling you things are just getting tough - how do you handle it?!

We hash out both of our "unique" approaches in this episode. One of us tends to consume extra kettle chips in stressful situations, and the other makes lists and finds some peace in having unbreakable routines...

When was the last time you said NO to a potential client, volunteer project, "favor" from a friend, etc?! As TEN17 continues to grow and unfold in all kinds of ways, we've found ourselves actually saying no (in a HELPFUL manner) more frequently. We do a little debriefing around this idea and the impact it can have on both YOUR sanity and long-term business success!

To simply just pursue what in this world peaks your interest. We put an insane amount of pressure on ourselves to have it all figured out. But the reality is, WE'VE ALREADY WON.

This one is just as exciting as it sounds! We decided to mix it up and surprise each other with random questions about things we haven't necessarily talked about yet... life, work, our bartending pasts, travel plans, how money can't buy happiness and Matchbox 20.

I think this was the start of a fun new episode series.

The question that never really goes away. And in today's world, it's easier than ever to keep tabs on your competitors. Whether it's for your own business, a side project, a new fitness journey or maybe even a coworker you're "competing" with for that next promotion.
