Colossal was actually a departure for Anne Hathaway, who normally plays likable characters, and Jason Sudekis, who normally plays NOT abusive douchebags. Pat got to check this pseudo-kaiju-battle-royale episode of Dr. Phil. As confusing as that statement is, it's somewhat apropos here. The plot: Gloria (Anne Hathaway) drinks too hard and parties too much. Her boyfriend has enough of it and throws her out. Gloria returns to her hometown, dreaming of making a new start, but instead revives her childhood friendship with Oscar (Jason Sudeikis), who runs a bar. After drinking a night away with Oscar and his friends, he wakes up to discover a gigantic monster rampaging through Seoul and realizes that somehow the monster is connected to her.

GameStop announced recently that it would close nearly 200 stores worldwide following an abysmal holiday season. To many of us it's a relic of the past, and that's probably what brought the company to this state. They saw a 16 percent drop in store profits and a 14 percent drop in overall sales primarily to competitors Walmart and online retailers. This marks a trend of consumers turning from brick-and-mortar retail stores to the digital marketplace. On top of that, sales booms of the Nintendo Switch a necessity in the console market. Then of course there's the mutual schadenfreude we all get from sharing horror stories from times we felt ripped off by the store. Hoping an expansion of its collectible-centric locations will compensate (Gamestop is shoring up 35 of it's existing 86 locations), can it be enough to recoup the lost sales to Steam, and Playstation Online and the Xbox marketplace? We discuss in detail whether or not this might mean game over for GameStop.

The members of the band Schooltree came to drop some knowledge about their original rock opera and double album Heterotopia, coming in 2017. Heterotopia refers to social or cultural spaces of otherness; worlds within worlds that connect with the rest of space in ways that simultaneously reflect, distort, and change it. Heterotopia the rock opera imagines our collective unconscious (referred to as “otherspace”) literally as such a space – a place both real and unreal, physical and mental, a liminal ancestral repository of symbols and archetypes where an initiation of self can take place.

Pat got to peep the new 5th and final Samurai Jack season. It's safe to say minds were blown. After being sent into the future by evil wizard Aku, young samurai Jack makes a quest to return to the past and undo the destruction caused by the wizard. Along the way Jack enlists allies to defeat some of Aku's henchmen and other villains before getting to the top dog to defeat him and find the portal that can return Jack to his own time. The final season of the animated series follows Jack on a journey that will finally complete his story.

Pat and Adam took a gander at Disney's live-action Beauty & the Beast. Having grown up with the animated film and various other versions respectively, they give an idea of who might get the most out of this nearly note-for-note remake. Belle (Emma Watson), a bright, beautiful and independent young woman, is taken prisoner by a beast (Dan Stevens) in its castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle's enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the beast's hideous exterior, allowing her to recognize the kind heart and soul of the true prince that hides on the inside.
