Youtube's Restricted Mode is intended to shield children from objectionable material, like sex, drug use, and graphic violence. Unfortunately it also restricted hundreds of thousands of innocuous LGBT-related videos. The company came under fire when queer YouTubers complained that their family-friendly videos were being blocked, including content like wedding videos that had no mention of sex. Further investigation found that the filters seemed geared specifically to LGBT content, but specifically hetero content was spared. After countless complaints, the Google-owned company released a blog post saying the issue has been resolved. We discuss to possible causes of such errors and the ramifications of continued attempts to filter out content belonging to individuals or groups based on certain attributes like gender, gender identity, political viewpoints, race, religion or sexual orientation.

Derrick got chance to play Talisman: the Digital Edition. We were all fans of noted writer, actor, comedian, TV & radio personality Charlie Murphy, who passed away from Leukemia quite unexpectedly. Murphy was best known as a writer and cast member of Chappelle's Show, and a story-telling standup popular for his tales of friendships with outlandish celebrities. We recount some of our favorite moments and how his work was an inspiration as someone who found success fairly late into his career.

A game we previously delved into at PAX, Pat and Jonny got to deep dive and fully experience 'Slime-San", the super gross and tough as nails platformer where you play as an animated ball of slime working your way through a giant worms intestinal tract. For Pat, this brought bad memories of old Ren&Stimpy games that went out of their way to prove they hated children. For Jonny, it carried happier thoughts of playing Super Meat Boy, dying repeatedly and cursing to the heavens. Despite the two points of view on the matter, both really enjoyed the game.
