Culture is a reflection. It mirrors the priorities and values of those who model it. And in turn those who model it reflect the priorities and values of the culture. It is important to recognise that leadership is about modelling culture. A follower does as their leader does, not just as they say, especially now when actions cannot be readily hidden from public view.
Even as reluctant leaders, when we recognise something wrong in the world we must first turn the mirror upon ourselves and ask questions about the part we play in creating/fertilising the problems. It is no good pointing fingers of blame to external sources of the problem. Leadership is about taking responsibility and modelling a new way out of the current perception of the current reality.
