The Give Me Five Podcast: An Uncultured Look at Pop Culture and Nostalgia

We are old white guys. We are definitely not in Billie Eilish's demographic, but she's talented and has a huge fanbase and a shelf full of Grammys. So, when I heard about a new music documentary out on Apple TV about the superstar, I wanted to see what it was all about. Turns out she's a cool artsy kid with a vision and a great family. So listen to Greg try to not sound really old as he talks about it.

At the last minute Rob decided to watch a Bruce Willis and Frank Grillo sci fi flick, Cosmic Sin. Does he have regrets?

We also delve into Resident Alien, the darkly funny new show featuring Alan Tudyk (happy birthday). He plays an alien stranded on earth, having to deal with humanity that he was sent to kill.

And as a special St Patrick's Day treat, join us on Monday where we watch someone that Jennifer Aniston's lawyers told us to say is DEFINITELY NOT Jennifer Aniston, in Leprechaun.

Of all the wonderful things to come out in the year 2000, Dungeons and Dragons was not one of them. It's a film that was years in the making and goes down as one of the most awful films to grace the silver screen. Tune in this week to find out why that is and the guys punish themselves by watching the film. Stick around as they answer this week's question... Top five cartoons adapted from content not appropriate for children!

It's a love letter to the horror section of the local video stores of your past. Grab a soda and some ketchup chips for this very special episode! Official Site Plastic Meatball

It took about 30 years, but Coming to America is back in the aptly named Coming 2 America. How does the comedy hold up in a new post-everything-is-offensive world.

Raya and the Last Dragon hit Disney+ and theaters this week. Is this southeast Asian fable worth the watch?

Jimmy checked out the award-winning Nomadland and let us know if it deserves the praise AND if its really depressing.

Finally Rob adds to his impressive list of fantasy novels with Scholar of Magic.

Speaking of fantasy, join us on Monday where we fantasize that we didn't just watch 2000's Dungeons and Dragons movie.

The Give Me Five's favorite wrestler CJ O'Doyle is back to talk the Crow 4 Wicked Prayer this week. Will Jimmy and CJ squash their beef? You'll just have to tune in to find out. The Crow 4 stars Edward Furlong, Tara Reid, David Boreanaz, and Danny Trejo so how could it possibly be bad? Hang around and hear what the guys most disappointing sequels are in the Give Me Five question of the week!

Controversy! Anger! Rage!

While we all agreed that Marla Grayson from I Care A Lot is the most evil character ever put to film, (and yes this list includes Darth Vader, Sauron, and Cruella DeVille), we did not agree on the quality of the film itself. But yeah, Marla sucks.

On a lighter note, the Tom and Jerry Movie is lighthearted fun, with just enough murderous cat and mouse action to keep it interesting.

Superman and Lois is only one episode into it's run at this point but it looks like it has some good ideas. Is it worth watching? Check out our review.

Tune in to our Monday episode where we review The Crow: Wicked Prayer with wrestler and Crow superfan CJ O'Doyle! It's bad but is it bad enough to get CJ to powerbomb Jimmy through a table.

This week the guys take on Peewee's Big Adventure? Directed by Tim Burton, scored by Danny Elman and written partially by Phil Hartman... is this a perfect film? Tune in to hear what the crew thinks! The question of the week? Well, what actors will forever be known to you as a certain character? Check it out!

Greg watched 3 reality based shows this week in a row and it broke his brain. One of the shows, The Blacklist, wasn't supposed to be based on reality, but an actor passed and they incorporated his loss into the episode. The other 2 were documentaries that covered Britney Spears and her conservatorship (Framing Britney Spears on Hulu) and an open relationship documentary called There is No I in Threesome.

Jimmy introduces us to the creepy salty world of Sea Fever and reminds us that redheads are not allowed at sea. And Rob read a book, but pretty much already knew the ending, but did he enjoy it?

All this, plus some Spider-Man movie news, a eulogy for Daft Punk, and a little bit of Twisted Metal!

Oh, and stay after the end music for more "Tara Ruins the Hits!"

Unintentional samurai month continues and concludes this week with Six String Samurai! After the King (Elvis of course) of Lost Vegas dies, rockers from far and wide make their way to Sin City to take the throne. Buddy (Holly) befriends a young kid on his way and battle moonmen, Russians and bowling teams along the way with death always lurking. Sounds cool, right? Check it out to see what the guys think. This movie features rockabilly band the Red Elvises, prompting the question, what are the top Five Musical Performances in film?

It is very difficult to make Rob uncomfortable. He's seen things that would make a billygoat vomit. But this episode, he managed to gross himself out, and we were there for it.

Speaking of uncomfortable, the Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel takes a sad story and makes it uncomfortable by adding in a host of You Tuber idiots that want to use someones death to gain views.

Jimmy watched a dark movie called St Maud which seems like a family friendly hit.

To balance out the streaming, we talked about 2 books. The concert-centric book Decibel Diaries by Carter Alan, and Age of Iron by Angus Watson.
