The Give Me Five Podcast: An Uncultured Look at Pop Culture and Nostalgia

This week, the Give Me Five Podcast reviews a MST3K favorite, Hobgoblins even though Jimmy just can't seem to pronounce it correctly. Hobgoblins is a mockbuster, or a knockoff of the 1984 classic Gremlins. So, that begs the question, what are the top five most outrageous knockoffs of 80s (an important detail that Greg and Rob glossed over) movies?

Disappointment is upon us like an invisible jet. All three of us were looking forward to Wonder Woman 1984. So what went wrong when we finally got our eyes on it. Thankfully Pixar's Soul was a much better film. Finally, Netflix's Sabrina came to an end and while the season was good, there was a very bad decision made about the ending.

Then make sure to tune in on Monday when we review Hobgoblins! A gremlins rip-off from 1988 that gets everything wrong except for spandex ratio.

Merry Christmas! You must have been good this year, because we are covering one of the best holiday movies ever made, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation!

We will check in on Clark Griswald and his attempt to provide his family with the best Christmas they have ever had, but of course, failing miserably.

We also have our second annual weird Christmas tradition quiz, which Rob is bound to fail.

The Give Me Five question this week is What are your personal top 5 holiday traditions?

Rob found yet another shark movie to torture me with AND this one isn't terrible. Oddly enough Greg had watched this one for fun about a year ago. Rob is still being replaced by a helper dolphin though.

Anyway, we cover the Santa Jaws film, along with our usual chat about farts, gay elves and candy cane narwhals.

The Give Me Five question this week is What are the top 5 best elves?

Everyone is talking about Cyberpunk 2077, so what do we have to offer? Well, for one thing Greg isn't a whiny gamer that likes to complain about every little delay and glitch in a game. But then again, he was satiated with copious amounts of cyber-genitals and a genre he really enjoys. So is the hype worth it? Listen and find out.

There is a ton of Star Wars and Marvel news this week, so we spend quite a bit of the episode discussing Black Panther, Rogue Squadron, Mandalorian, Ashoka and all the other huge announcements.

A few years ago, Jimmy reviewed Rare Exports. Rob forgot and reviewed it again. Feel free to go back and listen to both reviews. Rob also checked out Peppermint, an action revenge flick that didn't do well in the theaters.

Next Monday, check out side B when we cover Santa Jaws, another G*d damn shark movie that Rob picked.

Elf was a great family movie that has morphed into a Christmas classic. Elves, is a movie about a terrible family that is a classically bad Christmas movie. It involves a group of Nazis in 1989 trying to breed a line of elf assassins using a pure incestuous family line. I'm not kidding. We are ashamed of watching it, yet I feel the people involved with making it are just fine with ruining Christmas. This movie has mean teenagers, virgins, terrible "just say no" advice, and a cocaine addled santa getting stabbed in the dong.

We also have a special guest! Jacob McAlister, artist, actor, creator and all-around good guy. He worked with Universal studios on several big projects and has done art for your favorite Ravensburger games (like The Jungle Cruise) HE is on to talk about Oh the Horror! A card game for spooky people created by some Halloween Horror Nights alums.
