Sometimes you ingest pop culture and move on, other times you ingest pop culture, and then read a book about it, and watch a movie about it and play a video game about it. Well, this week Jimmy learned about the Dyatlov Pass incident in which 9 hikers mysteriously died in the 1950's. So he read the book Dead Mountain a true account of the incident, then he watched the movie Devil's Pass a significantly less true account of the incident, and finally he played the game Kholat which is a pretty well-researched game based on the incident.

Also there were announcements aplenty at the Comic Con At Home. We talk about them here and let you guys know what we are looking forward to. Star Trek, Walking Dead, Hellstrom, Bill and Ted, Constantine, MST3K and more.

Remember to check in on Monday for our Side B episode featuring the 1988 Roddy Roddy Piper classic Hell Comes to Frogtown and our question of the week:

What are the top 5 wrestlers turned actors NOT named John Cena or Dwayne Johnson?

We hope you enjoyed Side A of our new format. On Side B, we review the student film turned cult classic Darkstar directed by the one and only John Carpenter! Kirwin joins in on the fun as we uncover the many films and directors that were influenced by Darkstar.

The question this week is top five origins influenced by personal-ish experiences. It sounds weird, but it will make more sense once you hear it!

This week Greg tried to lighten things up but ended up talking about murder. Like a lot. Don't blame him though, it was due to the release schedule for I'll Be Gone in the Dark on HBO and TNT's Alienist: The Angel of Darkness.

Thanks to Jimmy however we lighten things up by talking about the always charming and fun Psych movies, this time Psych 2: Lassie Come Home on Peacock.

The conversation was fun and we even covered runaway kangaroos and way more toys than anyone can afford.

Things get sillier than usual this week as we take on the Zucker Brothers classic parody film Top Secret, and if you know a little German, maybe invite him to listen with you.

We also take a look at 2 very similar shows/movies that debuted on Netflix last week, Warrior Nun (based on a comic of the same name) and The Old Guard (uh.. also based on a comic). Both of them feature ancient powers in modern times, are they worth spending time with? Plenty of action and acting to discuss.

Of course, our Patron suggested question of the week: What 5 "made up" foods from TV and Movies do you want to try?

The answers varied wildly here, and it was a ton of fun to discuss.

There's a lot to process before that of course. The guys talk briefly about Unsolved Mysteries, I'll Be Gone in the Dark and the book I'm Thinking of Ending Things by Iain Reid. Play along with our game at home and you might win some bragging rights!

Once upon a time Greg happened upon a list of the best summer movies from the 80's. On this list was a movie called Private Resort starring Johnny Depp and Rob Morrow, and it was described as a fun summer romp. But alas, summer 2019 came to an end and it went un-covered. But 2020 came around and with it came the opportunity to watch this hot steaming pile of misogynistic garbage. Sadly I do not remember where I found this list, as I would like to beat the writer to death with a flip flop.

Anyway, we also cover Friday the 13th: The Game (which is having a bit of a resurgence after some fixes) and The / Rachel McAdams / Will Ferrell vehicle Eurovision Song Contest which is surprisingly fun and funny.

Of course, the question of the week: What are the 5 most iconic bathing suits in movies?

This episode has it all! A socially conscious timely Spike Lee helmed Vietnam film, a straight to streaming fantasy spy crime movie for kids, and a tale of devil spawn living in the desert biding their time while waiting to kill off humanity. Also, one of our houses is either haunted or has several children running around during recording time.

Either way, we cover a made for tv movie from the early 70's called Gargoyles which isn't scary despite terrifying most of our older family members back then, and we also check out Artemis Fowl, a casualty of the Disney / Fox merger (and Covid) that ended up on Disney Plus. We even had actual children give us their review.

Of course, the question of the week: What are the 5 best full-body monster / creature costumes in film? (and a special question)

It's 2020 and Ratt is back on the charts where they belong!

Rob finally gets his hands on the Playstation controller paddles of his dreams and tells us all about it. Greg and Rob review Stargirl and the guys review the 1981 renfair motorcycle film that introduced us to Ed Harris's naked butt, Knightriders! Spoiler alert... it sucks.

We have two questions of the week! What are top five worse movie debuts and what are the top five films where an actor or director stepped outside of their comfort zone and failed?

Did you guys know that there was a movie about a dude converting his dead girlfriend into a robot and it starred Kristy Swanson, the old lady from Goonies and was directed by Wes Craven?

Yeah, I didn't either but it's called Deadly Friend and it was brought to our attention by Rob and we had a lot of fun covering it. We also chat about the Synthwave documentary Rise of the Synths, available on Vimeo on demand.

Of course, the question of the week: What are the creepiest neighbors in movies?
