The Give Me Five Podcast: An Uncultured Look at Pop Culture and Nostalgia

This week Jimmy unveils a state of the art piece of equipment that allows for seamless mixing, sound drops and voice effects. However we just use it to add fart sounds into the episode. We are embarrassing.

A relatively depressing week with conversations about The Devil All The Time, about the worlds most unlucky dude (played by Tom Holland). We venture into the psycho wards of Netflix and Ryan Murphy's Ratched and we have a little bit of light hearted mystery solving in Netflix's Enola Sherlock.

All of these films and shows have big name stars, so which ones should you watch?

Rob's been drinking. Proceed with caution.

This week the guys review a Mad Max inspired Bladerunner knockoff with sex dolls called Cherry 2000 which sounds way cooler than it actually is.

The film takes place in the year 2017. Pepsi has won the great soda wars and men are shacking up with robot women. This film clearly got it wrong. What Are Your Top Five Films that Got the Future Wrong?

Early in the episode, Greg makes a mistake and mention that it's 151 "like the rum" later in the episode Rob drinks all the rum. I'm sorry.

Other than drunk Rob, we talk about 2 streaming horror films, #alive and The Babysitter: Killer Queen. and even an update on Universal Studios Orlando's roll out of 2 haunted houses for a mini Halloween Horror Nights. Revenge of the Tooth Fairy and Bride of Frankenstein Lives!

Remember to check in on Monday for our Side B episode featuring the futuristic bounty hunter post-apocalyptic sex robot hunt Cherry 2000.

Greg sings Neil Diamond and reveals to us how he watches barbarian movies in this week's Side B Episode.

Speaking of barbarian movies, we cover 1985's Red Sonja and it's not very good. The guys make up a drinking game to get you through this mission should you choose to accept. Tune in to find out what it is!

Red Sonja is about a red-headed warrior which is one of Rob's favorite things in the world. In honor of that, the question of the week is... What Are Your Top Five Red Heads in Film and Television?

No it's not the title of my emo band's first album in 2003, the title is a reference to Greg's realization that he may have missed the most important part of the latest Dresden File's book Peace Talks due to falling asleep. Hey, it's been a long year.

Theres plenty of video game news to absorb as well, and we talk about all the PS5 announcements.

We also try out the Boys season 2 like it was a sex toy in the middle of a Florida sex shop. And if that isn't enticing enough, then just wait until you hear Greg singing Neil Diamond on Monday's Episode.

Remember to check in on Monday for our Side B episode featuring the nowhere-near-as-cool-as-I-wanted-it-to-be Conan spin-off Red Sonja.

This past weekend was full of pop culture and new things to play with, so we jump right in.

Greg reviews yet another live action Disney movie, this time its Mulan, and it managed to anger Rob even though he didn't watch it. Jimmy played the very stylized, fun game West of Dead, and we also got our hands on the new Avengers game and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 & 2. If that's not enough of a time suck, There was a 3 hour + Pearl Jam concert available for streaming for ONLY this weekend, so Greg found the time to sit in front of his TV crying and playing air guitar for awhile. (3 times too)

Remember to check in on Monday for our Side B episode featuring Gleaming the Cube with our VERY special guest pioneering freestyle skateboard champion Russ Howell.

Find out when podcast hosts stop being polite and start being real!

The guys cover Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure and Bogus Journey on a twofer this week. We all know Excellent Adventure is amazing, but does Bogus Journey age just as well?

Painful memories are unearthed as Greg recounts his Bill and Ted Experience. Let's just hope the people responsible aren't listening.

We waited for 29 years for Bill and Ted 3 (or Face the Music) and even a pandemic couldn't keep us away. What did we think of the new film. Did the old Bill and Ted magic hold up?

Sad news as well, we briefly talk about the life of Chadwick Boseman and his legacy. RIP King.

Rob ventured out to the very safe movies theaters (great job AMC!) and saw New Mutants, another movie we thought would never get released, and Jimmy checked out another Grady Hendrix book, Horrorstor on audible.

Remember to check in on Monday for our Side B episode featuring Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure and Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey.

If you've followed the show for a while, you know that Greg is flatulent. It's bound to happen at some point it's only a matter of when so there is a very strong hint in the title of the episode this week.

Rob picked Flash Gordon for us to watch this week. We each somehow made it through a viewing of this snoozefest so you don't have to. Check out the episode for some fun factoids about the movie and find out what makes it so bad!
