The Give Me Five Podcast: An Uncultured Look at Pop Culture and Nostalgia

If there is one thing that 80's movies taught us, its that the blonder the fraternity member, the more evil they are, and that is multiplied when they are being controlled by a zombie alien space slug. You'll understand when you watch Night of the Creeps or when you listen to us talk about it.

There was finally another children's movie released in the theaters, the third Yeti film in a year, but which one is the best? We review Abominable.

On a much more offensive note, Greg tries (and fails) to explain Preacher on the eve of it's series finale. And Jimmy succeeds in getting us interested in Dark Pictures: Man of Medan.

And of course our question of the week: What are the top 5 actors that you want to see have a career resurgence?

Remember if you use our link (https://amzn.to/2KxR8OU) we get a little bit of money towards server costs at no extra cost to you. So go ahead and buy that Nicholas Cage Mermaid Pillow you definitely need.

Rob fondly remembers something from his childhood, and for once it's not the redhead babysitter that gave him a bath when he was 7. It was a fun Halloween made for TV movie calls The Midnight Hour, starring LeVar Burton, Shari Belafonte, Peter DeLuise, Dick Van Patten and a bunch of other people you probably remember. In this film a town is curse with a large variety of monsters and theres even a tragic ghost wandering around.

We would also be remiss if we didn't mention American Horror Story: 1984 which, like us, is straight out of the 80's.

And because I'm obsessed with cooking shows, Good Eats: The Return gets a quick review as well.

You might realize that we didn't mention Jimmy, he was away this week, and was replaced by Greg doing a terrible inaccurate impression of him.

And of course our question of the week: What are the top 5 made for TV movies?

100 Episodes! We have talked about movies, music, TV, streaming, games, books and pop culture's biggest events of the past 2 and a half years. We've interviewed extraordinarily smart talented people. We've played games, tried new foods and even found the good in several terrible movies. And when we came together to reminisce about the past 100 episodes, one horrible moment bubbled to the top.

Join us on our 100th episode clip show to chat about podcasting, funny moments and all the fun we've had over the past few years. This episode is a little bit different from the rest, but for the new listeners, it's a little piece of the Give Me Five World. Thanks for listening, grab a nice cold drink and enjoy the show!

And of course our question of the week: What are our top 5 favorite Give Me Five Moments?

Huge week for fantasy with the Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance and Carnival Row hitting Netflix and Prime respectively. We review them and let you know if Dark Crystal had the same heart and aesthetic of the original and if Carnival Row was able to balance world building and storyline.

Then we get to cover one of Greg's favorite after school cartoons, GI Joe. GI Joe the Movie never made it to theaters, but was split up over several days on network TV, as well as video release. It's almost as crazy as Robo Vampire, but oddly more coherent, despite featuring a guy turning into a snake and another dude in a flowered shirt riding incorrectly on a helicopter.

And of course our question of the week: What are the top 5 best celebrity cameos in cartoons as themselves?

Slightly delayed this week due to hurricane Dorian which (at the moment) may or may not be coming to visit Give Me Five Studios, but this week we are covering the 1988 Godfrey Ho masterpiece Robo Vampire, which oddly features no robovampires. It does however find a way to insert footage from multiple other films that are totally unrelated.

We also chat about Mindhunter season 2 and Terror: Infamy, 2 very well produced "history adjacent shows on Netflix and AMC respectively.

Rob did that thing where he sees a comedy in the theater so we get a quick review of Good Boys out of him, and Greg gets the chance to talk about GI Joe.

And of course our question of the week: What are the top 5 most deceivingly named movies, tv shows or bands.
