The Give Me Five Podcast: An Uncultured Look at Pop Culture and Nostalgia

The summer of 80's movies begins here. This week we begin covering some of our favorite, most cheesy, bikini-filled summer 80's movies. And this week we have a doozy. 1985's The Legend of Billie Jean starring Helen Slater, Christian Slater and Al from Quantum Leap. People ask if Helen and Christian are brother and sister because of this movie, and it's a good thing that they aren't because the choice of hang out attire was not made for siblings.

We also stay in the 80's, at least on a topical level with season 3 of Stranger Things. We cover the season in full, chatting about the shenanigans of America's favorite monster fighting kids.

There's also another game! This one based on Stranger Things, and it's 80's references.

Then this week's question:

What are the 5 best villain twists in movies?

Remember if you use our link (https://amzn.to/2KxR8OU) we get a little bit of money towards server costs at no extra cost to you. So go ahead and buy that weird ass anime pizza shirt you've always wanted.

Look, I know I referenced the Night Monkey joke in our title, but we totally forgot to mention it in the episode. But it was a good title, and I'm standing by it. Anyway, a gajillion people saw Spider-Man this 4th of July weekend, and we talk about it here. Also Jimmy checked out the new album by Radiohead's Thom Yorke and the short film that accompanies it.

We also discuss stuff like holiday greetings (Rob's opinions are his own, but he feels like they should be yours) , the final surprise issue of the Walking Dead Comic, book 3 of Babysitter's guide to Monster Hunting, and the upcoming Sandman show on Netflix. Also some weird Florida crap because it's inevitable.

Pixar surprised us when they announced Toy Story 4, because 3 seemed like such a great close to the series. We checked out the new Pixar film and discussed if it was good or bad, necessary or a cash grab, and the merits of the new story.

We also inject a bit of soul into the show with the fantastic new release by Austin's Black Pumas. This album pulls from soul, hip-hop, and psychedelia and is one of the best albums of the year.

Jimmy and Rob break down I Am Mother from Netflix, and there's also a bit of controversy, as we take on Neil Gaiman's God vs. the Devil miniseries, Good Omens on Amazon Prime.

Come for the ridiculous banter and stay for the game, real "lil'" rapper or made up lil' rapper.

Then this week's question:

What are the 5 times that censorship backfired?

This week we review an Adam Sandler movie! (seriously, and yes I am aware that we are supposed to hook listeners in the first sentence, but it's what we've got) We checked out the creatively named Murder Mystery on Netflix as did a gajillion other people. Also, a special guest reviewer joins us, even though he hasn't seen the movie, because he is six.

But thats not all! We cover Danzig's new horror anthology Verotika. (ok we aren't getting better with the hooks)

How about Men in Black International? Rob saw it, so you don't have to.

And we chat about new video game offerings at E3. Oh! and weird Florida $#!t, and some Endgame news. That should keep you monsters happy.
