The Give Me Five Podcast: An Uncultured Look at Pop Culture and Nostalgia

We were definitely NOT at San Diego Comic Con, which means we are definitely the people to be reviewing the trailers, news and announcements that happened there. From the return of Buffy and Clone Wars, to impressive trailers for Shazaam, Aquaman and Glass to the less impressive Godzilla and Titans? we cover the things we want to see and talk about in the future. We also found Stan Versus Evil which is Rob's new favorite show that he hasn't watched yet.

For the Give Me Five question, we teamed up to answer, what are the 5 things announced at Comic Con that we are most excited about?

After several weeks of huge releases we focused on smaller releases that we are equally as excited about. New songs by Gunship and The Midnight start off the show. What do we think about the latest entries into the synthwave genre?

Rob doesn't do music, but he does do fantasy... uh... fantasy novels and he loved Kings of the Wyld by Nicholas Eames.

Finally we attempted to try out The Last Drive-In Marathon on Shudder, but got thwarted by bandwidth and server issues. But we managed to check out some old exploitation films anyway.

Remember if you use our link (https://amzn.to/2NSaxLU) we get a little bit of money towards server costs at no extra cost to you. So go ahead and buy that llama charm you've always wanted.

Jimmy didn't see Ant Man and the Wasp, but Rob and Greg did. We discuss the movie, how it ties in to Avengers Infinity War, and what it means going forward into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Thunderbolts anyone?

Jimmy must have been busy reading Rex Draconis though, which explains why he missed out on the movie fun. We also chat about Tau, a horror suspense thriller on Netflix that deals with some unique questions about AI.

Remember that July 16 and 17 is Amazon Prime day, and if you use our link (https://amzn.to/2NSaxLU) we get a little bit of money towards server costs at no extra cost to you. So go ahead and buy that llama you've always wanted.

We are talking toys! We celebrate Toy Story Land's grand opening at Hollywood Studios Orlando (with special guest, Gen from Streaming the Magic) and reminisce to the Toys that Made Us season 2 and GLOW season 2. Lots of Lego and Transformers talk mixed in with Clutch? Yes even one of the last great pure rock bands in America gets to show their face in this episode. I'll bet Optimus Prime would totally listen to Clutch while beating Decepticon ass.

The question of the week is all about toys as well. What are your 5 favorite Transformer toys?

Our dinosaur knowledge falls somewhere between 1987 and none whatsoever so we enlisted some bonafide dinosaur experts to navigate our way through Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom. Sabrina and Garret from the I Know Dino Podcast joined us to talk about the movie and dinosaurs. We peppered them with questions about the accuracy of the on-screen dinos, and also learned about recent discoveries in the paleontological realm. We also talked a bit about paleontologists battling over discoveries, which I definitely need to see.

Our question of the week for Sabrina and Garret is:

If you had to form a crack paramilitary team consisting of only dinosaurs, what 5 would you pick?
