My bestie, Ore didn't come on this show to play with us today. She came for me and I never sent for her. She reads me for filth as we take a trip down memory lane, talk about our friendship, our ups and downs, the areas in which we have grown in recent years and the areas where we still need grace. Today is all about girl talk, and celebrating a true and honest friendship where you aren't afraid to hold each other accountable and to go into the dark places to pull each other up when you need it.

And that's on ✨self-worth✨
This week we're talking valuing ourselves enough to walk away from opportunities that as good as they may seem, are really beneath us. We're realising our self-worth, walking in it and creating the necessary boundaries. Then, we're sending up prayers for Gorilla Glue Girl in what seems to be a sticky situation. And, hats off to Yewande Biala for persisting that people call her by her name and make the effort to learn to pronounce it. This week in book club, we're talking about 'Crash The Chatterbox' by Steven Furtick and boyyyy, that book was good to me! Finally, as we've dedicated this episode to realising our self-worth, we end out our Top Three with some self-love and positive affirmation filled songs that I advise you to sing over yourself for the next week.

This one's personal for me! What happens when you're in your groove, working at your best and productive as ever and you're hit by a wave of sickness? I'm delving into what caused me to spend 15 hours in the emergency room and the triggers caused by being back in hospital after heart surgery. I'm unpacking the trauma that I never really ever admitted I experienced. Then, we're getting out of my business and we're talking about TI and Tiny and these allegations. In case you live under a rock, the famous couple is being accused of sex trafficking and coercing several women who have come forth anonymously. And ofcourse, I have an opinion. In Book Club, we're setting up the books for this month-- you voted and I listened. In Top Three, we're going through the motions and the songs that I've been listening to this week, ranging from Paralyzed by Masati to Video by India Arie. We're here for the growth, the self-love and the affirmations for this new month.
It's the ✨growth✨ for us!
This week we're talking about intentionality and serving the season that we're in. We're getting our ducks in a row, so that when the blessings come in, when we are afforded the reward for what we work so hard towards, we are ready to walk in them. Okay? Period. We're also discussing reality tv and how black men and women are represented on reality tv in today's climate. Tamar Braxton and Nene Leakes sparked a conversation about the reality of reality tv and we're getting into it. In book club, we're still diving into "A Promised Land" by Barack Obama and I have an announcement for the month of February and I want to hear from you! Finally, we're still doing it for the girls in music for Top Three and we end our three week series on Jazmine Sullivan's "Heaux Tales". Today, we're looking at Lost One and how it triggered us to identify and accept the times that we have been the toxic one.
This week I'm back with a pep in my step do you hear me?? On the health front, we've not made much progress, but we've evolved from eating takeout daily. I'm talking about how Dry January is going so far, and plans to go plant based in the month of February. Today we're doing it for the girls. Lori Harvey is our mood & we're dedicating this show to her. And we're lifting up prayers for Michael B Jordan in this season as he simps on the internet. In book club, we're still discussing A Promised Land by Barack Obama and why I love Obama so much. In Top Three, we're doing it for the girls in R&B right now and dissecting yet another Jazmine Sullivan song, and really looking at how these men really made a hoe out of us.
As your designated driver I'm publicly announcing that I am going THRU it and am not faking the funk when it comes to how I am showing up for this episode. Honestly, the 2021 resolutions and goals are seeming pretty far away with the current state of affairs, and in And That's Tea I delve into the trauma we face daily as black people and in all honesty, I'm tired. In book club we're talking about "A Promised Land" by Barack Obama and "Don't Settle For Safe" by Sarah Jakes Roberts, which I am yet to complete (like I said, going through it this week). And finally, in Top Three, we're talking about Jazmine Sullivan's new album and how it reminded me who tf I am in this season.
first things first, HAPPY NEW YEAR! We made it out alive & we're about to hit the ground running.
I couldn't have our first episode of the year without having my good sis @zozoshumba on to talk all things living your best life all 2021. We're talking about how to really plan and set goals at the top of the year to manifest the life you want. We're talking about growth and how we show up now versus when we didn't know better. We're also publicly announcing that we're going to be selfish all year. This year is about us. And obviously, we get somewhat off track and derail from the structure of the show because we're just having a kiki tbh. For the first time ever we're talking about the one thing that we thought we would take to the grave but in actuality, is the reason we are who we are today. I've been slacking, so Zozo has got us covered for book club this week and as always, we end out on the week's top three.
In this episode, I'm still eating Christmas food and announcing that as your designated driver I was BOO BOO THE FOOL this week. I messed up and did something less than smart, but I'm not holding that bad choice over myself. We're then hopping out of our business to talk about Cancel Culture in 2020 and how we, as a people, have become internet thugs and bullies. In book club, we talk about Cyntoia Brown Long's search for redemption in the American prison system and I'm pledging my allegiance to the literature lifestyle. In this week's Top Three, I make the public announcement that I am and have always been J. Cole groupie, we're tapping into Ke December with an amapiano track and tapping into a lil forgiveness with India Arie as we delve into our reflection moment.
HAPPY NEW YEAR MY LOVES! SEE YOU AT THE SAME TIME AND SAME PLACE NEXT WEEK. BE BLESSED.
Our designated driver @callmetatenda is stuck in isolation spending the holidays alone and was left with two options. Cry or give us a bonus episode. She did both. Just here to say, COVID-19 is the ghetto and this year is ending in premium TEARS. This Christmas is looking highly shambolic and I'm here to save this holiday season. We're having a Christmas party to forget the world around and have a kiki.
Whether you’re spending the holidays with the ones you love, the ones you hate, or by yourself, this one's just for you. ✨ Today we’re having mimosas, going through an extensive home-cooked menu, facing the anxiety, loneliness and sadness of a holiday in isolation in the middle of a pandemic, buying cute lounge sets that no one is going to see, and a playlist that has absolutely nothing to do with Christmas to cheer us up. 🤍
