The most important thing to remember is that setting boundaries is essential to creating healthy relationships. 

If you struggle to learn how to set boundaries or permit yourself to set them, you’re not alone. Setting boundaries takes practice and time. Establishing boundaries lets people know and understand your limits and become aware of what you are and aren’t okay with. Setting boundaries improves interpersonal interactions by taking the guesswork out. 

Boundaries are directions for others on how to interact with you!

Creating, setting and following through with personal boundaries will help maintain your mental health. Boundaries can also help you grow, save your emotional and mental energy, and act as a form of self-care.

Being consistent with implementing external and internal boundaries will increase your self-esteem, conserve emotional energy, and create more independence in your life. Once you’ve made boundaries known in your life, it’s natural for people to test them. Don’t falter. We all have different values and boundaries and we all deserve to have them respected. Honor your needs and make yourself the priority.

So even if you set out to complete a task with the best of intentions, it's no use if your environment dictates otherwise. We look around ourselves at other people, objects, and the way our environment is set up to determine how we should act.

If you have choices around you that are distracting or lead to undesirable outcomes, then it becomes hard to make the right choices. On the flip side, having an environment that only has desirable choices constricts you to do what's important for yourself.

So if you want to work on improving your habits, take a look around yourself and see how you can make it more convenient.

Prioritizing your Mental & Emotional health and wellbeing is an important part of your overall health. People who are mentally and emotionally healthy are in control of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. They’re able to cope with life’s challenges. They can keep problems in perspective and bounce back from setbacks. They feel good about themselves and have good relationships.

Being mentally and emotionally healthy doesn’t mean you’re happy all the time. It means you’re aware of your emotions, and you can deal with them, whether they’re positive or negative, while ensuring that you are operating within your mental boundaries.

Mentally and Emotionally healthy people still feel stress, anger, and sadness, they just do an intentional job at managing their negative feelings, ensuring that their feelings don’t control them, but they stay in control of their feelings!
