Did you know that positive relationships with others, self-love and self-care promote good health?
In this episode of The Good Doctors, we will delve deep into various aspects of holistic medicine. The episode brings to the fore the methods of treating the patient as a whole person – body, mind, spirit and emotions - which in turn contributes to optimal health, happiness and wellbeing.
Joining us on this show is Dr Bernie Siegel, a retired Assistant Clinical Professor of General and Paediatric Surgery of Yale New Haven Hospital. Dr Bernie Siegel was honoured by the Watkins Review of London, England, as one of the Top 20 Spiritually Influential Living People on the Planet. Dr Bernie Siegel believes that love and support are the most powerful healers and that the individual is ultimately responsible for his own health and wellbeing.
On this show, Bernie also sheds some light on how doctors must treat their patients by considering them as individuals and not as carriers of diseases. All a patient needs is love and that’s how Bernie wants the world to view holistic medical approach.
Listen in as we discuss more about the pivotal role of the holistic medical approach in the treatment of the acute health problems.
About Dr Bernie Siegel
For many, Dr. Bernard Siegel—or Bernie, as he prefers to be called—needs no introduction. He has touched many lives all over the Planet. In 1978, he reached a national and then international audience when he began talking about patient empowerment and the choice to live fully and die in peace. As a physician who has cared for and counselled innumerable people whose mortality has been threatened by illness, Bernie embraces a philosophy of living and dying that stands at the forefront of the medical ethics and spiritual issues our Society grapples with today. In May 2011, Bernie was honored by the Watkins Review of London, England, as one of the Top 20 Spiritually Influential Living People on the Planet. He continues to break new ground in the field of healing, supporting changes in medical education to “humanize” medical practice.
