Mr. Rey Langit has been extending assistance to overseas contract workers (OCW) way before they were called OFWs.  

In this episode of our radio show, Rey shares how he was able to bridge the communication gap between the worker and the family during the years before the cellphone, smartphones, facebook and viber.

Inanunsyo ni Mr. Norminio Boying Mojica, presidente ng Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association (MDPPA), ang binabalak ng samahang binubuo ng Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki at Yamaha na maggawad ng "Delivery Rider of the Year Award" sa mga natatanging riders ngayong taong 2022.

Tinuran ni Mr. Mojica na eto ay bilang pagkilala at pagbigay galang sa mga delivery riders na nagsilbing frontliners sa paghahatid ng mga essential goods tulad ng pagkain at gamit-medikal sa kasagsagan ng pandemya.

Sa mga kababayan nating nag-positibo sa Covid, at sa mga na-expose sa may Covid, na kinakailangang manatili sa bahay o quarantine facilities nang mahabang panahon, malaki ang naging papel ng mga delivery riders sa walang patid na dating ng pagkain, gamot at iba pang pangangailangan.  Kahit na rin sa mga ordinaryong mamamayan na bumibili ng pangangailangan sa online sellers, sa halip na lumabas ng bahay, mga delivery riders din ang inasahan, at patuloy na inaasahan, sa panahon ng pandemya.

Eto ang napag-alaman natin mula kay Mr. Mojica noong Sabado nang mag-guest siya at si Cris Malaiba, Sec. General ng MDPPA, sa ating programa sa radyo (Good Trip, DZRJ810Khz, Saturday 1:00-2:00pm).

Nasabi rin ng mga bisita ang malaking kontribusyon ng mga delivery riders at online sellers sa pagbangon ng industriya ng motorsiklo ngayong may pandemya.  Noong 2020, bumagsak ang benta ng motorsiklo ng 30% kumpara sa nagdaang taon.  Pero noong 2021, lamago ang industriya nila ng 19%.  Bumenta ang mga miyembro ng MDPPA ng 1,435,677 motorsiklo noong nakaraang taon, sa kabila ng paghihigpit sa health protocols.

Bukod sa nakatulong sa overall sales ng motorsiklo, malaki ang epekto ng delivery riders at online sellers para lumaki ang merkado ng mga tinatawag na underbones at scooters na motor.

Nangongolekta ang grupo ng mga lumang piyesa ng bisikleta na maaari pang gamitin sa pagbuo ng matinong bisikleta.  Wala silang pinipili basta maaayos at magagamit pa, tulad ng batalya, manibela, gulong, rim, kable, pedal atbp.  Kung hindi madadala sa kanila ang mga piyesa, meron na rin silang mga siklista na kukuha sa bahay o opisina ng magbibigay, dito sa Metro Manila.  Puede rin ang mga volunteer mechanic na tutulong sa pag-aayos at pagbuo ng bisikleta.

San Miguel Corporation (SMC) President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ramon Ang created a stir when it led the groundbreaking for the construction of a 19-kilometer elevated expressway along the Pasig River from Manila Bay to Laguna Bay.

Many laud the project on its potential to help alleviate the traffic congestion along the East-West corridor of Metro Manila, promising benefits to the residents of Rizal Province.  But there were some opposition to the said project.

Ms Anna Tayag, DOTr Project Devt Officer - Railway, shared with us the status of construction of the first phase of Mindanao Railway that will run from Tagum -Davao City-Digos over 102 kilometers of railroad.  Partial operations is slated in the 2nd quarter of 2022.

With depot located in Tagum, the segment will have 8 stations in Tagum, Carmen, Panabo, Mudiang, Davao, Toril, Sta Cruz and Digos.  It is expected to serve some 130,000 passengers daily initially, and expected to increase to 375,000 by year 2042.
