  • E-191: The Life of Joseph - Part 1 - His Father Reaps What He's Sown!
On this episode, we begin looking at the life of Joseph that is found in the book of Genesis. There's so much to learn from the life of Joseph that can help us become much better men, husbands, fathers, leaders. And right off the bat, the first person we meet in this story is his father Jacob (AKA, Israel).
And what's the first thing we learn from Joseph's father? ...
    YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW!
His father (Jacob) was a liar, deceiver, a cheat ... and later in life, he reaps what he's sown (and so do many others)!
We as men need to take heed, and be different!
Scripture references in this episode ...
    - Genesis 37
    - James 5:16
    - Galatians 6:7
    - Colossians 3:9-10
    - Proverbs 6
    - Proverbs 12:22
    - 1 Peter 3:10

  • E-190: RELAPSE! - Why It Occurs and What To Do When It Does.
Have you ever achieved a good amount of sobriety time from porn or some other unwanted sexual behavior ... and then BAM ... You fall right back into it?
It's called RELAPSE, and it can easily happen to all of us. But why does it occur and what do we need to do when it does occur. Those are the questions that I answer on this episode.
    4 REASONS WHY RELAPSE OCCURS:
Reason #1 ... You neglect your recovery plan.
Reason #2 ... You think you've reached the summit.
    Reason #3 ... You're not confessing everything.
Reason #4 ... You're unwilling to address the deeper issues.
    ----------------
3 THINGS YOU NEED TO DO WHEN RELAPSE OCCURS:
    #1 ... Contact and Confess.
#2 ... Watch Your Game Films.
    #3 ... Take Action Immediately.

  • E-188: Interview with Nate Larkin - Part 1 - The Danger of Living a Divided Life!
Nate Larkin is the Founder of Samson Society and Host of Pirate Monk Podcast and Co-Host of The Positive Sobriety Podcast.
Here on Part 1 of this interview, he shares his full story of porn addiction to prostitutes to his wife becoming clinically depressed due to their failing marriage ... And all of that while he was serving in pastoral ministry. Not kidding. Nate lived a lie for decades and it was eating him up on the inside, but he couldn't stop it on his own.
    Can you relate?
He was eventually caught by his wife ... and what seemed like the worst thing that could ever happen to him was actually one of the best things that ever happened to him because it was the catalyst for true repentance, healing, growth, recovery, and global impact.
Again, this is Part 1 of my interview with the Pirate Monk (Nate Larkin). It's sobering and amazing and trust me, Part 2 is even more amazing because that's where you'll hear what the grace of God did for Nate ... and that same grace is available to you too.

  • E-187: 8 Motivating Reasons To Quit Porn!
On this episode, I give a brief update on the launch of our online support/accountability groups for Christian men (Climb Teams), and then I give you 8 motivating reasons to quit porn!
At the conclusion of this episode, there's some OSR therapy with RUN-DMC.
    OSR = Old School Rap.
    Enjoy.
8 Motivating Reason to Quit Porn:
Reason #1 ... I want to live a Christian life that pleases God and brings Him glory.
    1 Thess. 4:1-8; 1 Cor. 6:19-20; Psalm 19:14
Reason #2 ... Because I'm a new creation in Christ and I need to live like it.
    2 Cor. 5:17; Rom. 6:5-11; Gal. 2:20; Ezek. 36:26-27
Reason #3 ... Because its cheating on God (spiritual adultery).
    Jer. 3:20; 9:2; Ezek. 16:30-34; Hos. 4:10-12; 5:3
Reason #4 ... Because I'm going to stand before God and give account of my Christian life.
    Rom. 14:10-12; 2 Cor. 5:10; Eph. 5:15-17
Reason #5 ... Because it's unmanly. A real man is devoted to one woman (his wife) and he doesn't objectify, exploit, or use women for his selfish pleasure.
    Gen. 2:22-24; Eph. 5:25-33; 1 Pet. 3:7; 1 Cor. 16:13-14
Reason #6 ... Because there's no such thing as secret. God sees everything. Angels and demons are also observing your Christian life. AND ... all of your online activity is captured by your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and even your social media providers.
    Job 34:21; Psalm 33:13-15; Eph. 6:12; 1 Cor. 4:9
Reason #7 ... Because it hinders my prayer life from being effective and powerful, and that not only negatively impacts me but others as well.
    1 Pet. 3:12; Psalm 66:18; James 5:16
Reason #8 ... Because it hinders me from being a positive spiritual impact upon others ... wife, kids, friends, neighbors, co-workers, classmates, teammates, etc.
    Deut. 12:28; Jer. 5:25; Matt. 5:16
Quotes used in this episode ...
"If I allow any turning away from God in my private life, everyone around me suffers ... if you allow physical selfishness, mental carelessness, moral insensitivity, or spiritual weakness, everyone in contact with you will suffer." - Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest
"The greatest need my people have of me is my personal holiness." - Robert Murray McCheyne

  • E-186: Real Men Agape!
The manliest thing you’ll ever do in your Christian life is love (AGAPE) other human beings the way that God loves you.
    It’s the truth.
I honestly can’t think of anything manlier than that. You can have the biggest and strongest muscles, hunt polar bears with a pocket knife, ink up your whole body with skulls and dragons and tribal symbols, become a Brazilian jui jitsu master who then becomes a Navy SEAL, earn yourself 3 PHDs, write 10 NY Times best selling books, and accumulate a net worth of over one billion dollars $$$$$ …
But you wanna know what God says about all of that? …
He says if you don’t love other human beings the way that He loves you … then you will ultimately end up building nothing, being nothing, and gaining nothing. Absolutely nothing. You will miss the main point of your Christian life and you don’t want that. I don't want that. AGAPE!

“Love, in the Christian sense, does not mean an emotion. It is not a state of the feelings but of the will; that state of the will which we have naturally about ourselves, and must learn to have about other people.” - C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity Book
“Love is the medicine for our sick world. If people can learn to give and receive love, they will usually recover from their physical or mental illness." - Dr. Karl Menninger, Founder of the Menninger Clinic
“It is easier to be orthodox than to be loving, and easier to be active in church work than to be loving. Yet the supreme characteristic that God demands of His people is love.” - John MacArthur, Pastor/Teacher, Author
"When we stray from the Source of love, it is impossible to be loving.” - John MacArthur, Pastor/Teacher, Author

  • E-185: The Comfort Crisis - Part 1
Most American men are living a pretty safe and comfortable lifestyle. They're addicted to their temperature-controlled, overfed, sheltered, safety-netted lives. They don't like to be pushed outside of their comfort zones ... but what if that's a big contributing factor to what's wrong with us? What if that comfortable lifestyle that we work so hard to attain and protect is the very thing that's contributing to problems like obesity, heart disease, cancers, diabetes, depression, anxiety, and even that overall feeling of a lacking meaning and purpose in life??? What if we are actually at our best (physically, mentally, and spiritually) when we intentionally and routinely make ourselves engage in doing uncomfortable things?
I've been reading an interesting book that's challenging me to get out of my comfort zone ... The name of the book is "The Comfort Crisis" and it's written by author, Michael Easter. This book really has me thinking through some uncomfortable changes that I need to make in my life, and I know it will do the same for you. So on this episode, I'm going to share with you some of what I'm learning from The Comfort Crisis by Michael Easter.
Prepare to for a round house kick to the head!

  • E-183: Never Climb Alone!
On this episode, I take you on a journey up into one of the most dangerous mountains in the world with Ueli Steck, a legendary Swiss mountaineer who was nicknamed "the Swiss machine."
On Sunday, April 30, 2017, Steck made a foolish decision that cost him everything ...
    He decided to climb alone!
Many Christian men are doing the exact same thing in their spiritual journey, and it's not just foolish ... it's dangerous. Disaster is inevitable when Christian men decide to climb alone.
If you want to overcome your sinful addictions, you never climb alone!
If you want to reach the summit of your full potential in Christ, you never climb alone!
    Scriptures mentioned in this episode:
    - James 5:16
    - Galatians 6:1-2
    - Hebrews 3:13
    - Hebrews 10:25
    - Proverbs 27:17

  • E-182: Death to Selfie! - Part 2
I don't know about you, but I can be pretty self-focused, self-absorbed, and self-exalting. It's pretty easy for me to make life all about ME (SELFIE)! ... My needs ... my wants ... my desires ... my ambitions ... my dreams ... my goals ... my success ... my comfort ... my happiness ... my fame ... my status ... my popularity ... my position ... my preeminence ... my glory!
That "selfie" mindset and pursuit comes so natural to me and I know it does for you too.
Most men (even many Christian men ... even many Christian leaders) are living a life all about selfie ... but God has called us to pursue something much bigger and better than that, and that's what I want to rip into for Part 2 of Death to Selfie.
This is some good solid spiritual meat with lots of practical application for you.
    Scriptures Mentioned ...
    - Isaiah 60:21
    - Romans 11:36
    - 1 Corinthians 6:20
    - 1 Corinthians 10:31
