In this episode, Jason shares another nasty joy sucker that is common among Christians ... HARBORING SECRET SIN! This is a joy sucker that Jason knows all too well from his own personal life experience and from also working with young men for over two decades.

Harboring secret sin will completely suck the joy out of your Christian life if you're a genuine Christian. If you harbor secret sin and it doesn't bother you and suck the joy out of your Christian life ... then there's no way you're a genuine Christian! Don't kid yourself.

King David definitely experienced this nasty joy sucker. He tried to harbor several secret sins and he was absolute miserable trying to do so. See Psalm 38 and 51.

The best way to avoid this nasty joy sucker is to keep yourself at the greatest distance from sin. Don't even go near it. Run from it and run towards the good things of God! Constantly!

And if you're already dealing with this particular nasty joy sucker, then the best way to get rid of it is to bring it to the light ... CONFESS IT!

Sin will always have power over you as long as you keep it secret.

You've got to bring it to the light to kill it. Don't just confess it to God, but also confess it to a trusted spiritual leader who can help you overcome it. Do it!

There's no way to go through life without encountering nasty joy-suckers. In this episode, Jason talks about one of those nasty joy-suckers that he allowed to attach itself to his Christian life many years ago, and it caused him major anxiety and panic issues.

What was it?

It all came down to doubting his salvation in Christ ... he was constantly questioning ...

- Can I lose it?

- Will I lose it?

- Did I lose it?

He discovered that those are not the questions we should be asking. The real question we all need to ask ourselves is ... "Do I genuinely have salvation to begin with?" ... Because if you genuinely have it, then it can NEVER be taken from you. See John 6:37; John 10:27-30; Romans 8:38-39; and Hebrews 13:5

There's nothing you can do to make God love you any more than He already does, and there's nothing you have done that can make Him love you any less. His love is steadfast and unchanging (Psalm 136). As the old hymn says ... "Our hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness. We dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus' name. On Christ the solid rock we stand. All other ground is sinking sand."

So remove that nasty joy-sucker of doubting your salvation from your life by knowing that your faith is not based on our own righteousness or "feelings" but on the Person and finished work of God's only begotten Son, Jesus Christ! See Ephesians 2:8-9.

And that means that even in the midst of all the $#@& that you're going through right now, you still have a reason to rejoice! Because no matter how bad or painful life is for you right now, your faith in Christ has got you covered ... God is still with you (Heb. 13:5) ... and Heaven is still your home (Phil. 3:20)!

In this episode, we learn that ...

#1 ... God wants us to be joyful believers regardless of our circumstances.

#2 ... With God we can be joyful believers regardless of our circumstances.

#3 ... If my Christian life is not full of joy then it's because I have allowed a nasty joy-sucker to attach itself to my life. It's not God's fault. It's not my wife's fault. It's not my kid's fault. It's not the government's fault. I have allowed it!

#4 ... I need to identify the nasty joy-suckers in my life and address them with God's guidance and power.

Philippians 4:4 NIV ... Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!

God commands us (His children) to give thanks in all circumstances - 1 Thess. 5:18 ... and that means even when life sucks. Dude, that's easier said than done.

Why would God say that? ...

Because it glorifies Him and He knows it also benefits us. Scientific research is actually proving this and Jason is beginning to experience it.
