  • [Mindset Change] How to Feel More Attractive: Part 3/3 | Including Stop Caring What Other People Think | Episode 051

In part 3 we’ll be diving deeper into more techniques including the very biggest one of all, stopping caring what other people think about you.

In part 1 and part 2 you’ve hopefully learnt about how attractiveness is a mental game not a physical one and also taken on board a few techniques which can help you accept that what you look like is what you look like, in part 3 we’re going to be continuing to build upon these techniques that will get you believing that you’re an attractive person.

Hold yourself to the same standards as everyone else

On Instagram in particular I am a big fan of women celebrating other women and their appearance. If someone I’m following posts a photo of themselves within minutes there will be a gang of women throwing out boundless positivity about how incredible they look.

Maybe you have even been one of those people throwing body positivity around like confetti.

What’s stopping you doing the same for yourself?

Maybe you have a muffin top and you think that’s not attractive so you don’t post the photo of you where that’s showing a bit.

I absolutely guarantee that if a friend posted a photo with a little muffin top showing you wouldn’t comment saying “yo, what’s with the muffin top?”, you’d be telling her she was beautiful.

What makes you so special that you get treated to much more brutal standards huh?

  • [Mindset Change] How to Feel More Attractive: Part 2 | 6 Techniques You Can Start Using Today | Episode 050

Recommend listening to Part 1 first If you want to start finding yourself more attractive and you’ve not read part 1 yet then please do - there’s an important exercise at the end of that which can really get you started well on your journey to thinking you’re as fine as you are!

Below are a whole host of different things which will help you find yourself more attractive, I’d advise giving all of them a go.

I’ll talk about my own experience of doing them as well.

    Mirror Work

You are probably going to hate this, it’s going to sound cringey and awkward - and that’s because it is but goodness me it is a powerful way of accepting your appearance.

It will take you 5 minutes a day and I implore you to try it for a week.

Quite simply you go up to a mirror close enough that your field of vision is taken up by your whole face, from here you are going to look at every little part of your face. Every perceived imperfection, every line, every corner, every part.

And, preferably out loud, tell yourself - for example - “I accept the crease on my forehead”, “I accept the lines around my eyes”, “I accept the size of my nose”.

You don’t have to love these things or like them or even want to keep them as they are, you just have to accept that this is what they are right now.

When I did this I liked to systematically go through each different part making sure I didn’t miss anything, telling myself I accepted them.

Finally I would make direct eye contact with myself and say “I accept myself.”

Yes, it’s awkward and cringey at first but you’ll be surprised how enlightening an experience it is.

  • [Mindset Change] How to Feel More Attractive: Part 1 | Increase Your Self Confidence & Sex Appeal | Episode 049

How to Start Finding Yourself Attractive Why is it so hard to find yourself attractive? Just the idea of saying “I’m sexy” or “I’m hot” without cringing yourself inside out seems utterly impossible to a lot of people.

They would in fact rather be thought of as being unattractive over being believed to think that they themselves are attractive. What on earth is the problem with thinking something so positive about yourself?

In this episode I’m going to be talking about how to find yourself attractive, talking quite starkly about my own journey through this relatively recently.

Reaching a tipping point When I came out of my last long term relationship my belief about how attractive I was couldn’t have been lower. I’m not going to go into the reasons why, that’s not necessary but I wanted to talk to you frankly about my own discovery that I am actually a pretty attractive person.

I started at a point where I thought I was ugly, that no-one would like someone bald, that my body lacked anything sexually interesting about it at all and that there was roughly a zero percent chance that anyone would possibly want to have sex with me.

Like I said, it couldn’t have been lower.

To be honest I spent a good few months just allowing this feeling of physical inadequacy just to sit there doing its thing.

Weirdly this wasn’t the worst thing because given where I was at in my life and with lockdowns in place it actually helped in preventing me from falling into the trap of thinking online dating would have been a good thing for me which it wouldn’t have been.

I was “damaged goods” at that point and subjecting myself to the emotional rollercoaster that online dating can often bring would have put dynamite on the fire.

And I continued to not do anything about it until I had a tipping point moment.

Out of the blue someone told me in no uncertain terms how hot they thought I was.

    And I cried...a lot.

I’m very pleased that this was done via message or it would have been a situation of Bridget Jones level cringy-ness

This was the moment where I realised just how unattractive I thought I was and how this might not actually be in alignment with reality. It also reaffirmed something that I knew, I REALLY knew and that it was buried deep down under years and years of feeling so terrible about myself. And that thing was that attractiveness is a mindset.

  • [Mindset Change] Memento Mori: Find Joy In Life By Remembering You'll Die One Day | Episode 048

Let’s be clear, you’re going to die one day.

The moment you were born you were given a death sentence.

Right now that shocking thought which, let’s be honest, you already knew will either be terrifying you or inspiring you.

If you’ve found that the stark reminder that you’re going to die one day scary then hopefully this blog will help you take death as a inspiration to live your life in the way you really want to.

In Stoic philosophy there is a well known expression “Memento Mori” - which translates from Latin to mean “Remember you will die”.

The Stoics liked to be reminded of their mortality as it forced them to take an honest look at what they were doing and how they were living their life.

Death essentially forced them to live life on the terms that they were genuinely happy with.

Being on your deathbed  I’d like you to imagine for a moment that you are on your deathbed, you know that the grim reaper is waiting to take you so all that is left is for you to think about your life.

As you lay there do you think you wished you spent more time worrying?

Were those hours on TikTok really time well spent?

Would those small things that angered so much really worth losing your tranquillity over?
Do you wish you’d had more arguments?

The answer to all of the above is “probably not”.

Looking back at your life from now, what do you wish you’d done more of?

Which things have been a waste of time?
Which things do you think you’d have been better off letting go of?
The answers that you come up with are a powerful insight into the way in which you could live your life with much more joy.
Here’s the thing though, whilst you might not be on your deathbed at this second, but death can, and does, strike at any moment.

You could be hit by a bus, have a tragic cancer diagnosis, or you could just hit your head and never wake up again.  These ideas might be somewhat grim to think about but they serve as a reminder to live your life with more joy, the path to which has been shown by answering the questions above.

  • [Relaxation] 15-minute Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) over the Sound of Waves (Body Scan) | Episode 046

This progressive muscle relaxation has been recorded over the sound of gentle waves crashing onto the beach. You'll find that there's no nonsense, woo-woo or fluff in this PMR just a simple to follow audio which will get to gain deeper awareness of your body and relax it all part by part.  *****************************************************

A progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) is a well-researched and documented away of bringing about a deep state of relaxation. In this PMR I'll be instructing you to become aware of a particular body part and then to either actually contract the muscles or just imagine contracting them - before releasing the tension again. Please note that if you have an injury to any of the body parts mentioned the tension should only be imagined not actually created.

    ****************************************************

PMR has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety. It can also help to lower your heart rate. This makes it a great thing to do during particularly stressful times, such as before an exam or after you’ve had an argument.  Multiple studies have shown that PMR can have physical benefits too, including reduction in blood pressure and improvement of overall quality of life.
