The Hall H Show – The Voice of Independent Creators

Ever wonder what would happen if Calvin and Hobbes grew up in Sin City?

Writer David Pepose did just that with his comic book, Spencer & Locke – which is also co-created and drawn by Jorge Santiago, Jr. and published by Action Lab Comics.

I was blown away after reading all four issues! And can't wait for the movie! Oh wait, I was so excited that I jumped the gun!

We caught up with David at San Diego Comic-Con 2017 and on this interview, we not only get some insight behind the development of Spencer & Locke, but we learn what comics books influenced his journey into becoming a writer, we find out he ignored the creative itch for a long time and started writing Spencer and Locke on a dare and we also discuss some possible actors for the possible Spencer & Locke movie adaptation (fingers crossed).

He also gave some great answers in our Thunder Round!

I'm sure glad he scratched that creative itch and that he graciously took time to talk with us at SDCC…because Spencer & Locke is one badass comic book. We hope you enjoy our conversation with David Pepose!

Hello fellow nerds and geeks, Aaron Nabus here and one of my favorite comic books at the moment is Silver, by Stephan Franck. How lucky it was for me to get a chance to interview him at the Dark Planet Comics booth at San Diego Comic-Con 2017 for the Hall H Show podcast! Besides talking about his noir comic book about treasure hunters looking for vampire silver, in the 1930's, we discussed his childhood growing up in France and his love for comic books…especially when comic books from the United States were finally allowed into the country in the late 70's, how the movie Heavy Metal was a huge influence at age 13, his love for Will Eisner and his comic book The Spirit, and how he parlayed his cinematic experience as an animator on films such as The Iron Giant and Space Jam into his new endeavor, the very striking comic book, Silver. Speaking of Silver, the Kickstarter campaign for Volume 3 ends on Thursday, August 10 2017 10:00 AM. PDT. What do conmen and vampires have in common? Find out on this Hall H Show exclusive interview with Stephan Franck!

What do Kurt Busiek, the Eisner Awards, Jack Kirby, SDCCfit, tennis balls and Lolita's taco shop have in common? Our San Diego Comic-Con 2017 recap of course! What an epic event this year's SDCC was for the Hall H team. We covered quite a few panels…especially ones pertaining to Jack Kirby, managed to record five podcasts, connected with both familiar and new artists and we also found time to have some fun – especially at the Hero Within Red Wedding and Screen Junkies after parties. Hosts Aaron Nabus and Alex Benedicto, are joined by Jason Lethert, Dan Berry and Matt Dunford on this recap of SDCC 2017 which, if we were to give it name, would be "Rise of the Independent Creators." Enjoy!

On this episode, Hall H Show podcast hosts, Aaron Nabus and Alex Benedicto catch up with Karma, from the blog, Second Union, on the night before San Diego Comic-Con 2017 Preview Night.

On this episode we learn a lot about Karma such as what she was like when she was younger, she likes horror movies, she is a Bruce Lee fan and she also shares a regret she has concerning a past incident at San Diego Comic-con – which is actually quite a funny story. We also talk con tips, SDCCfit and what she and Second Union have planned for the future.

Hey there fellow nerds and geeks! Aaron Nabus here and thank you so much for tuning into the Hall H Show Podcast! On this episode, we bridge the gap between the breakdancing and bboy culture and comic books and pop culture with our special guests from The Not So Fresh Podcast, Art Tejada (Destijl), Mad Mike Logic, Saso (who you may know from The Jabbawockeez) and RoxRite, a world champion bboy, currently sponsored by Red Bull. We are also joined by our good friend Jason Lethert from HeroJournalism.com. This is part two of our joint podcast session so please go to Tuffrocking.com and check out part one. We drank like Thor and The Warriors Three, as we continued our discussion (so this is a not safe for work episode). Not only did we learn more about bboy culture, but we also talked about their upcoming breakdancing event, The Get Down, and of course we also talked about San Diego Comic-con! Thanks again to The Not So Fresh podcast for coming on the show (and for the beer). Enjoy! Music by The Passion HiFi. #HallHShow #ArtistsAssemble
