On this episode, Hall H Show podcast hosts, Aaron Nabus and Alex Benedicto welcome the out of this world crew of independent creators, the Accidental Aliens!
A few of the aliens, Scott Lost, Travis Rivas, Emily Rocha and Rodney Anderson, talk about their Kickstarter for their Accidental Aliens 2018 comic anthology.
We also touch on their origin stories, where the name "Accidental Aliens" actually came from and the challenges of balancing a regular job with the hustle of being an independent comic book creator.
At the time of the recording of this podcast, their Kickstarter was fully funded...so congratulations a huge high five to them! But please consider supporting them because while their printing costs are covered, by fully funding their stretch goals, they will have additional resources to appear at conventions.
Please enjoy our conversation with the Accidental Aliens!

Hey there fellow nerds, geeks, artist alley evangelists and supporters of independent creators!
Thank you for tuning into the Hall H Show podcast!
Black Comix Day 2018, an event organized by Keithan Jones, brought together black comic book creators from around the U.S. for a special one day comic convention that took place on Saturday, February, 17, 2018 at the Malcolm X Library, in San Diego, CA. This event coincided with the opening weekend of the Black Panther movie and Black History Month and highlighted the importance of black comic book creators.
One of the creators, writer Greg Anderson-Elysée, and the creator of the comic book Is'nana, The Were-Spider, traveled all the way from New York and was in San Diego for the first time, so we had to get him on the podcast before he flew back – which we recorded as the library was starting to close for the day.
It was great to meet this independent creator and star on the rise and we look forward to connecting with him again in the future.
In celebration of Black History Month 2018, Greg has a 25% off special for Is'nana The Were-Spider, Volume 1, which will end on February 28, 2018. If you're interested, please email him at [email protected].
We hope you enjoy our conversation with Greg and don't forget to support black creators and other people of color because representation does matter.
Hey there fellow nerds, geeks, artist alley evangelists and supporters of independent creators! Thanks for tuning into the Hall H Show podcast!
We recently attended the inaugural Black Comix Day 2018 that took place on Saturday, February 17 at the Malcolm X Library in San Diego, CA.
This event, organized by Keithan Jones, owner of the comic book publishing company, KID Comics and creator of the comic book, The Power Knights, brought together some amazing black comic book creators.
Two creators, David F. Walker and John I. Jennings joined forces with moderator Hannibal Tabu for the panel, "Heroes Rise: The Importance of Black Artists in Popular Media" which highlighted why events such as Black Comix Day 2018 are needed.
Enjoy this recording of the panel and please go support and buy comics from black independent creators!

This particular day was chosen specifically to coincide with the highly anticipated Marvel Studios movie, Black Panther – which will premiere on Friday, February 16, the day before Black Comix Day 2018.
Special thanks to Ben Caldwell for letting us record this podcast at the historic KAOS Network in the Leimart Park area in Los Angeles. Enjoy...and please come to Black Comix Day 2018 and see for yourself why black comic creators are important! Representation matters and Black Heroes Matter!

Hall H Show podcast hosts Aaron Nabus and Alex Benedicto do a quick recap of Long Beach Comic Con 2017 and preview of New York Comic Con 2017 (although they won't be attending this year)
Topics for this show:
While the Hall H team won't be attending NYCC 2017, they did attend Long Beach Comic-Con and had a lot of fun…especially when they doing a live report for An Englishman in San Diego's #CupOTeaSDCC YouTube Live Hangout with Leonard Sultana and Alyssa Franks.
Aaron organized a pretty good line up of guests that included, Martha Donato, President of Mad Event Management, the company that puts on Long Beach Comic Con, Stephan Franck, the creator of the comic book "Silver", Franco Te from Tee No Evil and Todd Nauck, artist extraordinaire of Deadpool and Spider-Man just to name a few
They also did a podcast interview with Zack Kaplan, the writer and creator of the comic books "Eclipse" and the upcoming "Port of Earth." He will also be at New York Comic Con, so please look for him in Artist Alley.
The Hall H Show podcast recently caught up with Zack Kaplan at Long Beach Comic Con 2017. Zack is the writer and creator of the comic book Eclipse, which is published by Top Cow Comics.
While he started out as an actor and studied theatre and was more interested in being in front of the camera, he eventually realized that he would rather be do things behind the camera.
After making his way to Los Angeles and while studying film at USC, Zack worked a few odd jobs before finding success with his comic book , Eclipse.
Past odd jobs included working as an agent's assistant, doing cater waiting, teaching film and TV writing, and also working as a poker dealer.
In fact the inspiration for Eclipse came during numerous trips back home at sunrise after a long night of either dealing…or playing cards.
Eclipse is a dystopian story about a society living underground during the day, due to a catastrophic solar event. Add a killer on the loose, killing people with sunlight and you have the makings of not only an interesting comic book, but also a movie or even a TV series…oh wait I guess you'll have to listen to the rest of the podcast for that.
He also gives great advice for aspiring creators and he even gives us a preview of his new comic book called "Port of Earth" which is coming out in November 2017.
We hope you enjoy our Hall H Show podcast conversation with Zack Kaplan and if you are going to New York Comic Con and Los Angeles Comic Con…please go check him out!
Hey there fellow nerds and geeks!
Aaron Nabus here and on this episode of the Hall H Show, my co-host Alex Benedicto and I, interview Ruben Torres, someone that I grew up with in south San Diego, CA.
He's touching lives and and making a difference in San Diego, Los Angeles, Northern California and Tijuana, Mexico with his Love Thy Neighbor movement and with events like his upcoming "Barn Burner: HeART of Boxing" art show.
The event takes place on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at one of the local San Diego boxing gyms, House of Boxing with some of the proceeds going toward his annual Love Thy Neighbor Drive in December.
In addition to this podcast with Ruben, go check out the Hall H Show blog post for episode 25 at HallH.com to see a short video of Ruben showing us around his newly opened headquarters for the Love Thy Neighbor movement.
Thanks again for tuning in and enjoy!
Hey there fellow nerds and geeks! Aaron Nabus here and thank you for tuning into the Hall H Show!
For those of you that go to numerous comic conventions throughout the year, you know the benefits of being physically fit, especially at the bigger cons like New York Comic Con and especially San Diego Comic-Con…where I've easily walked over 32 miles the last few years.
But don't take my word for it.
On this episode of the Hall H Show, my co-host Alex Benedicto and I caught up with a few of the active members of the SDCCfit family…a growing community of like minded geeks that continually motivate and support each other to be fitter so we can all have a better con experience!
We welcome:
Recorded on the last day of San Diego Comic-Con 2017, we cover a few topics such as why the SDCCfit movement is important, what each of us did to get SDCCfit for this year's comic-con, tips for a better con experience – especially since you do spend a lot of money coming to a SDCC, we even talk about our favorite vegetables and of course what's a Hall H Show without a Thunder Round!
Also, since it was the last day of San Diego Comic-Con, we all share a few of our highlights.
Hopefully this podcast will not only help you get in better shape for San Diego Comic Con (or any con) but it will also help you be #SDCCfit for life. Enjoy!
At San Diego Comic-Con 2017, we were lucky enough to catch up with Ureaus, creator of the "Black Heroes Matter" movement, just minutes after the Black Heroes Matter flash mob.
We first met Uraeus at SDCC 2016, when we hosted an artist meet and greet for some of our favorite artists. He is a Maryland based writer and created Black Heroes Matter movement after feeling a need to bring awareness of how important minority representation is within the pop culture and comic book worlds, especially after the recent events of the past couple of years.
The movement has experienced incredible growth, Uraeus only brought about 20 "Black Heroes Matter" shirts to last year's Comic-Con. After just one year, Black Heroes Matter has started to garner national and international attention.
On this episode, some of the topics we discussed were the importance of San Diego Comic-Con and how it's such a great opportunity to network, how his trip to Egypt in 2004 inspired him to start his own comic book creation journey, his other projects – such as his adapted screenplay for his comic, Indigo which is currently being shopped around, and of course Black Heroes Matter where you can "make a statement without saying a word." Enjoy!
