Hey there fellow nerds, geeks, supporters of independent creators and avid con goers!
On this episode of the Hall H Show Podcast, we welcome Steve Kirk, the Founder of the new kid on the convention block, Intergalacticon!
What? Another con you say?
But wait...if an intimate convention experience, for fans, by the fans and of the fans is what you are looking for, then come free your fandom on June 15th and 16th 2018 at the Town and Country in beautiful, San Diego, CA!
Heroes will hang with villains. Stormtroopers will photobomb Klingons. It will be a weird and wonderful good time...and we can't wait!
Steve brought the goods on this episode. Not only was he an awesome guest but he brought some awesome swag...a pint glass, stickers and commemorative coin!
From our conversation, I got the impression that he's taken into account details that other con's my often overlook. For instance, a cosplay maintenance room where you can make minor fixes, how cool is that?
We hope you enjoy this podcast with Steve and if you happen to be in San Diego that weekend, please stop by and check out Intergalacticon's inaugural event!
Hey there fellow nerds, geeks and supporters of independent creators!
The Hall H Show (Aaron Nabus and Alex Benedicto) welcome two comic book creators, Greg Anderson Elysée and Marcel Dupree who have joined forces to create a horror noir comic book, entitled, "The Gentleman."
Greg is the writer and creator of his own comic book, "Is'nana The Were-Spider," which he talked about on episode 31 when we met him at Black Comix Day in February of 2018. He recently picked up three Glyph Awards for it...so big congrats to Greg!
Marcel is the Founder and Creative Director of Evoluzione Publishing and is building his own comic book empire, one Kickstarter campaign at a time...or rather two or three.
Speaking of Kickstarter, congrats to the both of them as well as to the rest of the creative team of "The Gentleman" for successfully funding their Kickstarter for what looks to be an awesome comic book!
Although it was recently fully funded, their Kickstarter campaign doesn't end until May 31, 2018, so please check it out and support them if you can.
On this conversation, our first Skype interview, since Greg lives in New York, we touch on diversity and comic books, Kickstarter tips and of course The Gentleman, which we can't wait to read...enjoy!
Hey there fellow nerds and geeks, Aaron Nabus here and thanks for tuning into the Hall H Show podcast!
Episode 40 is an epic podcast for three reasons.
One...I finally met another person who's a big fan of the Detroit Pistons, Korean food, David Chang and singing Karaoke!
Two...his comic book, Aberrant, as of today's date, April 16, 2018 is in previews and is scheduled for June 2018 release date (right before San Diego Comic-Con).
Three...it's episode 40! I once heard Pat Flynn from the Smart Passive Income podcast once say that most podcasters stop after episode 7. So I'm Mike Tyson level ecstatic that this podcast that Alex Benedicto I started, to be a voice of independent creators, has reached this milestone!
Speaking of independent creators, please give it up for this episode's guest, Rylend Grant!
I went big on this one...so it includes:
My Los Angeles Comic Con 2017 interview with him where he first talks about his comic book, Aberrant, which will be published by Action Lab Comics. We also get to know him better and find out he grew up in Detroit, Michigan and made a switch from politics to screenwriting for movies and now uses his showbiz and screenwriting experience to also create comic books.
I also included my recent conversation with him at WonderCon 2018, where we get an update on Aberrant, if you check out the video version of this...you can see the snazzy variant cover! We also talk about his "Publishing Your First Comic Book" panel that he did at WonderCon 2018...which also included a previous guest, David Pepose, the writer and creator of Spencer and Locke.
As an added bonus, I have included the audio of that panel at the end of this podcast since I know it has a lot of value for any of you aspiring comic book writers and creators.
So...please enjoy this podcast with my friend, Rylend Grant and don't forget to check out his comic book, Aberrant, currently available at PreviewsWorld.com. Use the codes APR181190 for the original or APR181191 for the variant.

The International Mobile Film Festival 2018 is almost here and I encourage you to swing by and check it out!
Taking place April 28 & 29, 2018 at the Marina Village Conference Center, in San Diego, California, the purpose of this mobile film festival is not only to create interest and spark creativity in people of all ages with limited income or resources but to actually inspire creative filmmakers to live to their potential and realize the opportunity to fulfill their dream.
The International Mobile Film Festival is indeed for everyone around the world...no matter where you are from or how old...or young you are!
For this International Mobile Film Festival 2018 preview episode, both Susy Botello, festival founder and myself attended the Gaslight Gathering, a steampunk convention that was held recently in San Diego, CA, so we could meet up with Tracy (Hot Nerd Girl), who was there with Star Wars Steampunk Universe for a panel about cosplaying for charity.
Star Wars Steampunk was such a welcome addition to last year's festival, adding some pizzazz as they escorted the filmmakers down the red carpet.
We talk about Tracy's panel, the film festival and more! I'm so excited and can't wait to learn from the workshops, screen the movies, meet the filmmakers and have fun on the red carpet!
Speaking of the red carpet...as an added bonus to this podcast episode, I have added a few short red carpet interviews from last year's festival...enjoy and hope to see you there!
Mike Kellerman is a tattoo artist and owner of the Black Water Tattoo Club, located in Chula Vista, CA. "Southbay Mike," as he is more widely known around South San Diego and around the world like in Japan and South Korea for instance, is also a survivor of cancer from secondhand smoke, first diagnosed at age 5, crystal meth addiction and homelessness.
We appreciate Mike coming on the show and being vulnerable, showing us that the reason why he has such a sterling reputation isn't only because of his outstanding tattooing skills, but because he tries to be the best version of himself...and encourages you to do the same.
Please enjoy our conversation with Southbay Mike as he shares his struggles at a young age, his memories touring with POD, his experiences as a business owner, his passion for art and tattooing and most importantly, his calling to be a better servant for others in need.
He even shares some Korean that he picked up while he was tattooing in South Korea!
Matt Dunford, current Chairman of San Diego Comic Fest is one of the biggest advocates for the importance of comic books, especially in the local San Diego, CA area.
From playing in Pokemon tournaments, to cosplaying, to attending conventions and comic creator signing events, even to his additional duties as President of Little Fish Comic Book Studios and recently hosting Club Cosplay, Matt is quite literally...everywhere!
On this episode we preview San Diego Comic Fest 2018, which takes place April 20-22, 2018. We hope to see you there!
Ben Russel's portfolio contains a wide range of work, from realistic portraits, to full colored compositions of tattooed pin-ups and expressionistic oil paintings. He is also a huge fan of comics and movies, especially the horror genre.
He shares a bit of his very inspirational story with us, from hitting rock bottom to rising up and finding himself not only as an artist, but as a self-help advocate who promotes personal freedom through creativity and passion.
If you happen to be at WonderCon 2018, please go visit him in Artists Alley DL-17. This will be his 50th con appearance...so go show him some love.
This conversation with Ben Russel took place at Los Angeles Comic Con 2017.
What do Han Solo, Princess Leia, Glenn from The Walking Dead, Elektra, and the The Wasp have in common?
They are just a few of the cosplays that our friends and cosplayers, Robert and Min Germar have done...so far.
In fact, if you will be at WonderCon 2018 this Saturday...you will see their newest cosplay creations, Rick Hunter and Lynn Minmay from Robotech!
We can't wait to see these and all the other cosplays they will be unveiling in the the near future.
Hall H Show podcast hosts, Aaron Nabus and Alex Benedicto caught up with them in August of 2017 to discuss their new passion for cosplaying...enjoy!
WonderCon may be the smaller sibling of San Diego Comic-Con, but that in no way diminishes the experience. In fact, we might even call it a "goldilock con." It's large enough to attract some major talent, yet small enough so people who usually like more intimate cons, like us, can still enjoy it
Hall H Show podcast hosts, Aaron Nabus and Alex Benedicto highlight a few of the panels, exhibitors and artists that they would like to see at Wondercon 2018!
WonderCon 2018 takes place on March 23–25, 2018 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA.
Love Voltron, Dragonball and Transformers art? Then you will love our next guest, illustrator, Jin Yung Kim!
This podcast was recorded in October of 2017, when Jin just finished his comic convention season and was having fun creating art for Inktober.
Now that the 2018 con season has started, Jin, who recently tore it up at Emerald City Comic Con, will be making an appearance at WonderCon 2018, which will takes place March 23rd to the 25th, in Anaheim, CA.
On this interview, we touch on how he was at 11 years old, some of his artistic influences and who he thinks should play him if a movie was made about his life. We even talk a little bit about his recent trip to Japan with his friends and fellow artists, Patrick Ballesteros and Dave Wilkins...those illustrations that Patrick did of them on that trip were hilarious!
Please enjoy our conversation with...Jin Yung Kim!
