In this episode, Dr. Bob has a conversation with Chef Casey Willard about his journey as a trained chef and working with the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation. There, he has implemented a farm to table concept for the tribal school and community. This is a wonderful must listen episode about the power of food and family.
Chef Casey Willard grew up in a small town outside of Sacramento in Northern California where vast farming and agriculture surrounded him. He still has fond memories of going to his Grandfathers garden in Winters, CA and seeing firsthand what farm-to-table was before it was even a thing. A memory that stands out is biting into the sun warmed tomato, fresh from the vine with a little kosher salt, and knowing that this is a special way of eating. Chef Casey took his passion for culinary and all things food to the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, where he trained in classical French technique. After graduating from the CIA, Chef Casey went and worked in restaurants and hotels in South Florida and Atlanta. Returning home to California, his next venture took him to Raley Field in Sacramento to help initiate a Farm to Table atmosphere in a concession stand environment. After Raleys Field, Chef Casey promoted to the youngest Executive Chef for Ovations Food Service, opening an account at Texas Tech University, where he oversaw all sports based food production. He then helped open and run a Tribal Hotel & Event Center in Pocatello, Idaho for the Shoshone Bannock Tribe. Chef Casey returned to California to work for the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation. There, he has implemented a farm to table concept for the tribal school, community and The Seka Hills Olive Mill, utilizing all the available produce and meats that the Capay Valley has to offer. Chef Casey continues to get excited everyday knowing that he works in one of the most fertile and organic growing region in the country.

Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Wendy Wasserstein said he "is everything we search for in a modern wise man; learned, kind, funny, and non-judgmental, he offers remarkably healing guidance."
Rabbi Leder's second book More Money Than God: Living a Rich Life Without Losing Your Soul received critical and media attention including feature articles in the New York Times, Town and Country and appearances on ABC's Politically Incorrect, NPR, and CBS This Morning.
His third book More Beautiful Than Before; How Suffering Transforms Us was reached #4 on Amazon's overall best sellers list in its first week. In this episode, Dr. Bob has a discussion with Joanna Ennis, a mother of five children as well as a women's ministry speaker and leader. Don't miss this dynamic conversation as Joanna talks about what it's really like to raise five children, plus the absolute joy and challenges of motherhood.
Joanna lives in Southern California in a pretty, eclectic, fast -paced town perched just above the Pacific Ocean. Her home is literally always full of people. She and Jeff have been married for 27 years and have five children, 3 boys and 2 girls: Hailey, 23; Jonathon, 21; Andrew, 17; Elyse, 13; and Matthew, 11, and one very spoiled small dog named Wilson. She is passionate about many things: living an authentic life, travel, the ocean, her husband, family, talking with her hands and her dining room table. Most recently, she finds herself on a mission to help others open throw open their own doors and gather around their own tables for simple meals with family and friends, creating opportunities for friendship and belonging and slow conversation, which somehow just comes easy when we all just stop and rest into the the slow and intentional process of sharing a meal around a table together. She had been involved in women's ministry in one way or another for the past 25 plus years: leading and speaking at women's gatherings, retreat speaking and most recently becoming involved in IF: Gathering both as a local leader and a board member. Joanna's mission is to encourage and inspire her audience by using stories from her own crazy, messy, imperfectly beautiful life to spread God's truth that she and all women are precious, beloved and beautiful. She longs for each woman to understand that she is uniquely equipped by her Creator with passions, gifts and talents to be used right where she is, right here and now to spread His love and His glory to the very people they rub elbows with every day and most of all to point women to the graceful truth of the gospel and to absorb the miraculous truth that she beautifully bears the image of Christ.

In this episode, Dr. Bob has an important conversation with author and coach Steve Morris about the crazy and competitive world of youth sports. Coach Steve talks about his book, "What Size Balls Do I Need?" and gives parents permission to relax and focus on the fun within the "ten year window" of their kids' participation in sports. Steve tackles crucial topics like:
– How to recognize a toxic coach and the steps to take to protect your child – Why "potential" and "expectation " are the two dirtiest words in youth sports
Packed with lively humor and helpful advice, parents will not want to miss this discussion!
Steve Morris took a circuitous path to discover his life's mission. He studied history at Yale, produced television commercials around the world, and continues to write screenplays that adorn his shelf.
It came down to his energetic four-year-old wanting to play soccer for Steve to become the living, breathing embodiment of falling into something you love. With a bag of balls, dim muscle memory from playing in high school, and a cache of how-to books, he brought his son, Evan, and a dozen of his friends out to the wilds of their local southern California park, where together they dipped a toe into the wonderful world of youth sports. It wasn't long before he was coaching every sport Evan and his siblings, Dori and Griffie, wanted to play.
Over time it became clear that the playing field was leaning more toward the competition of travel teams and club sports, leaving development and recreational fun behind. In an effort to right this imbalance, Coach Steve was born, and in 1997, Coast Sports was founded. What twenty-three years ago began as an excuse for father-son bonding became a thriving business with the dual goals of recalibrating the fun-competition quotient for the kids, and assuring their parents that this was a healthier and more sustainable model for everyone's happiness and success.
Coach Steve encourages parents to enjoy their kids' brief 10-year window in youth sports, a goal best accomplished by dialing down the pressure and tempering their expectations. Only a fraction of high school athletes play sports at the college level, and far fewer go on to play professionally. The most dynamic statistic is the number of life-long friendships created among teammates.
