  • 016: Maturity of the Authentic Self with Michelle Powell
Being your true and authentic self means that what you say in life aligns with your actions. It is who you truly are, at your deepest core.
However, internal elements of ourselves can be lost piece by piece because of a lot of external factors. They chip away slowly until you can’t recognize yourself anymore.

Is your fear of failure and your inner critic keeping you from pursuing your goals? One of the key ingredients for growth is being open to failure.
In this episode we delve into the ‘Power of Probably’. Telling yourself “I can probably do that” instead of “I wish I could do that” changes your mindset on how to approaches things that are out of reach. Although you will prove yourself wrong plenty of times, by being on the other side of “probably” you will have far more wins and open up more opportunities.
When you entertain the chance of failure, you remove its power. When you fail, you learn things in the process. So the next time you have a goal that you want to achieve, tell yourself, “I can probably do that.”

  • 013: Mindfulness and Meditation with Chambrie Ferrier
Society today teaches us to disregard or avoid our feelings and emotions. Because of this, our coping mechanism is to sweep these emotions under the rug. We push them down so far that they manifest into stress. Meditation and mindfulness are powerful tools that we can use to avoid overwhelm and burnout.
In this episode, we deep dive into how we can use breathwork, meditation, and mindfulness to manage and reduce stress and avoid burnout. Our breath is something we can always come back to. It is our anchor during stressful times. Being able to go back to your breath and using it as a tool to center yourself is so powerful.
When we are mindful, we are present and aware. By being present, we can show up as better versions of ourselves and for the people around us.
So the next time you feel anxious and stressed, stop and take a breath.

You’ve come across the famous saying “Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.” But how often have you instinctively reacted to a triggering situation?
It takes work moving from past hurt and trauma. But by practicing self-awareness, you will be able to hold yourself true in those triggering moments. Being mindful of this, try to look at where the trigger comes from. By doing so, it gets easier to give yourself that self-compassion and understanding that comes from your own trauma.

About The Happy Nurse

From the publisher's feed

Nurses are the backbone of the health system — always there to care for a stranger as if they were one of their own, forsaking precious moments with their own families to ensure others' loved ones are in good hands.
