  • Episode 177: 03 - BEING VULNERABLE - THE HARDER SHAFT PODCAST - hosts Joe-y Busuttil & Adam COX
The third episode of the HARDER SHAFT podcast hosted by  Joe-y Busuttil & co host Adam Cox.
    What exactly is shame?
Shame encompasses feelings about who you are and how you feel about yourself after doing something wrong, such as believing that you are not good enough, that you are a bad person, or that you are broken. You can make yourself feel ashamed, and others can shame you (if you allow them to), lowering your self-esteem.
    Shame is preferable to guilt.
When you feel guilty, it is an awareness of your choices or behaviours, not of who you are. You feel bad about yourself when you are ashamed. You recognise you made a poor decision, which you can correct or apologise for, but it has nothing to do with your self-worth.
Shame is the polar opposite of empathy.
Empathy is the ability to "put yourself in someone else's shoes" and experience what they are experiencing. And if you can't do that exactly, you tell them you don't know how they feel, but you're here to listen and help. Being open without attempting to solve the person's problem is essential in allowing them to work through their feelings of shame with love, respect, trust, and kindness.
Vulnerability necessitates the development of trust over time.
Trust necessitates the accumulation of social support over time. The more you trust someone, the more comfortable you are being vulnerable with them. Trust also necessitates visibility, which is difficult if you are accustomed to hiding your emotions or if any aspect of your identity is still hidden in the closet.
The more vulnerable you are, the more joy you will feel.
Practicing "active gratitude" is one of the best ways to experience more joy in your life. Begin a gratitude journal or simply write about what you are grateful for in your journal at the beginning and end of each day.
ADAM COX:Adam Cox is a trainer, mentor and coach for single gay men.
With over 9,000 hours under his belt and 19 years experience in the training and coaching space, Adam successfully leads men through profound personal transformation.
Adam grew up hating himself: he didn't want to be gay! Through his teenage years, he kept his sexuality hidden deep within, an internal battle that waged on in his head for close to 15 years. That, teamed up with severe acne, Adam's early years were somewhat difficult. Rejection after rejection and never feeling like he 'fit in' led him to feel that maybe life wasn't really worth living.
Finding a love for instructing and training at just 18 years of age, Adam became a National Presenter for Les Mills Asia Pacific after just 5 years, and was awarded the Fitness First National Group Fitness Instructor of the Year in the mid-late noughties. Around this time, Adam's passion for music led him to teach himself how to DJ, and later on produce music. Throughout his music career, he played venues such as ivy (SYD), The Metro (SYD) Family (BNE) and The Wickham (BNE) to name but a few.
Yet, whilst electronic music was in his heart and soul, he found himself in an environment that favoured drugs and alcohol. After moving through a 15+ years alcohol and drug addiction (mdma, cocaine, crystal meth, ketamine, ghb) and a 10+ year battle with mental health: depression, suicidal thoughts, anxiety and almost daily panic attacks, Adam found the launchpad to his ultimate life.
Adam had a desire to launch his own coaching business five years before it's inception, but was held back by self-doubt and fear. He didn't think he was good enough. This 'not enough-ness' played out in his relationships too: he was the ultimate people pleaser. Four beautiful relationships with phenomenal men, all with powerful lessons to learn, and deeper inner healing completed with each one.
Yet, through heartbreak, numerous business failures, rejection, mental health challenges, suicide ideation, addiction there was an underlying feeling that there was something else, so he went on a journey to find answers.
After working with coaches and mentors almost non-stop for close to 4 years, and experiencing life-changing-transformations on a mental, emotional, and spiritual level, he found something. He discovered that for most of his adult life, he never quite felt safe to be his true authentic self: becoming chameleon-like in order to fit and and be liked. This catapulted him into a journey back home to find his true self: an epic expedition ranging from heartache and loss to utter bliss and pure excitement.
Attracting his dream man (which has since found completion!), building a soul aligned business, living where he wants to live and surrounded by 'full body fuck yes' friendships, ignited with passion, purpose and a joy for existence, Adam not only thrives on life itself, but has used his massive career and life experience to usher other gay men home to their authentic self.
He discovered that the secret to life wasn't about what was done, but who someone becomes, and has use his wisdom to created strategies and effective processes that can rapidly transform someone's mind, body and soul. He helps gay men let go from their past, heal, gain clarity on what they truly want, and empowers them to launch into confidently creating a life that is aligned to their heart and soul.
He helps single gay men BECOME the dream man that they are seeking, helping them confidently own their worth, love the man in the mirror, speak and act with authenticity and courageously go after what they want.
You can use what you want from this mate.

  • Episode 176: 02 - INTRO TO TANTRA - THE HARDER SHAFT PODCAST - hosts Joe-y Busuttil & Grant Shepherd.
On the second episode of the HARDER SHAFT podcast hosted by  Joe-y Busuttil & New Zealands  own Grant Shepherd. .
Interested in learning more about Tantra.
Despite its age as a philosophical system that dates back more than a century, Tantra has gained popularity in the West in recent decades.
You may have heard the term "tantra" used in the media and in spiritual circles to describe ecstatic, open relationships and multiple orgasms in tantric sex (where it can have different overtones such as: connection, celebration, intimacy, transcendence, divine consciousness, and so on).
You may not have heard of Tantra before, but we'd like to show you how this ancient Eastern wisdom can make every day of your life a joy.
When Tantra was first developed, it was based on a combination of Hinduism and Buddhism.
    Tantric insights:
Instead of simply referring to "a loom," the term "Tantra" is used in Indian tradition to denote "text, theory, system, method, tool, technique, and practise."
"Incorporating traditions and teachings into texts, techniques, or practises" is how Tantra is described in ancient texts.
Interpretations and misinterpretations of ancient texts were greatly influenced by their use of highly metaphorical language, which left a wide open field for interpretation (to prevent uninitiated people from applying its principles in the wrong way).
All things in the universe are manifestations of the divine energy that governs the universe itself, and this includes everyone and everything in it. In this trance-inducing ritual, Shiva and Shakti, the masculine and feminine archetypes, the Sun and the Moon, night and day, and life and death, all dance together.
In this way, Tantra can be viewed as the ultimate self-realisation tool for reaching enlightenment and realising the oneness of all things in the universe.
All things have a divine nature, and we are no exception. All of life's aspects, including the senses, are included in this divine vision.
Tantra is an excellent choice when it comes to practicality.
Beyond intellectual comprehension, we must engage our bodies, senses, and emotions in order to fully comprehend our divine nature.
It is to one's life, and not to a particular deity, that one should devote oneself.
The two are inseparable in the world of tantra.
Everything in the universe has a divine purpose, including our sexual energy.
This blissful state of being can be achieved by using lovemaking as a means of transcending the physical level in Tantra.
According to Western interpretations of Tantric teachings, sexuality is a central theme.
The use of sex as a means to attain enlightenment is not the only way Tantra can be defined. It's a spiritual tool that can help you ascend to a higher plane of existence.
Everything else was thrown out in favour of what was simple and quick (including the sexual component).
    Tantras from the past
There are three main ways to practise tantra, each with its own set of benefits and drawbacks.
It is Tantric Sexuality's concentration on sexual energy that makes it unique. In Tantra, sexual energy is held in high esteem. The universe's most potent and healing force is that of sexual attraction. Chi (Prana) is recirculated through the body and transformed into unlimited strength, vigour, and creative potential through procedures such as energy orgasms, semen and sexual energy retention, divine feminine and divine male energy embodiment, and many others. People who use this energy in the right way gain greater insight into the meaning of relationships and intimacy, as well as a deeper connection with their own sensuality and sexuality. They also gain greater physical power as well as healing for a variety of ailments, including mental health issues (depression and anxiety), as well as physical and chronic immune imbalances. The advantages are genuinely innumerable.
An integral part of Tantra Energy Healing's approach to healing is the activation and harmonisation of energy channels in order to facilitate the optimal flow of clean energy for mind-body-and-soul detoxification, the removal of trauma and blockages caused by previous wounds, and the empowerment of a person to realise their full sexual - orgatic potential and experience profound spiritual awakening.

  • Episode 1: 01 - MEN & PORN -THE HARDER SHAFT PODCAST - hosts Joe-y Busuttil & Dic Savvay.
The first episode of the HARDER SHAFT podcast is co hosted by Sydney's Naked Barber himself, DIC SAVVAY. On the show we discuss MEN & PORN.
Pornography is now accessible through a simple internet search and is getting increasingly immersive. What effect does it have on people's actions, relationships, and desires?
There are few things that are truly universal. However, millions of individuals throughout the world view porn while speaking different languages, eating different cuisines, and even feeling different emotions. Porn is vilified as the source of society's woes, despite its widespread consumption.
Welcome to the HARDER SHAFT podcast.
The podcast for men about MENS Sexual Health.
Each episode contains an interview with an expert with something to share. Casual, short and easy to digest. We endeavour to discuss  MENS SEXUAL HEALTH  issues that MEN may face in their lives. Speaking the mental, physical and emotional language that MEN understand.
Men have historically avoided self reflection, so our podcast aims to inspire listeners.
We are passionate about a SEX POSITIVE life.
Podcast episodes out 9am (AEST) Mondays.
Taking men into vulnerability, transparency and self acceptance. This created a much needed narrative into MENS Sexual Health.
This awareness needs to continue to evolve and expand its reach, and within my Psychotherapy work I have been really observing where MENS health is about to implode.
THIS new venture is expanding on something I do already but wanting to take it directly to the men in need. It may come across as daring, some may say irresponsible. But the one thing I love doing is pushing the envelope.
THE SHAFT EXPERIENCE - MENS SEXUAL HEALTH

  • Episode 175: 175 - ARCHETYPES - FINAL - TAYLOR ROARK - the Secret MENS Business
Its our FINAL EPISODE - On this weeks interview on the Secret MENS Business podcast we speak to TAYLOR ROARK about ARCHETYPES.
Taylor Roark is committed to transformational change in the world by helping people bring their heart’s true expressions into the world through individuality and connectivity.
Taylor has worked with intuition for more than 15 years — training with Maryann Madden, founder and director of The Inner Energy Centre in Brisbane, Australia. He has also been accredited to Level 4 Mastery through Natural Success Academy, founded and run by international best-selling author William Whitecloud.
Prior to founding Galliant Trainings, Taylor worked as a commercial lawyer and consultant for nearly 20 years providing legal, commercial and strategic advice for corporate transactions and renewable energy projects around the world.
Taylor is an avid traveller, a keen cyclist, an amateur photographer, a weekend DJ and a Taoist at heart. He chooses to live life as a mythical adventure.
Archetypes are universal, inborn models of people, behaviors, or personalities that play a role in influencing human behavior. They were introduced by the Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung, who suggested that these archetypes were archaic forms of innate human knowledge passed down from our ancestors.
In Jungian psychology, the archetypes represent universal patterns and images that are part of the collective unconscious. Jung believed that we inherit these archetypes much in the way we inherit instinctive patterns of behavior.

  • Episode 174: 174 - Botanical Medicine for Mental Health - SCOTT OHLGREN.
On this weeks interview on the Secret MENS Business podcast we speak to SCOTT OHLGREN about Botanical Medicine for Mental Health.
Scott Ohlgren is the owner and formulator of Synaptic Scientific. His had a long interest in natural foods as medicine going back to the mid-70s, and a particular love of cognitive and longevity herbal formulas. He graduated from a natural foods school in the ’80s, and wrote three books on the diet-disease/diet-health connection that sold 80,000 hard copies in print. In 2007, he started what was arguably the world’s first non-caffeinated think drink company, and our Brain Toniq beverage was the first nootropic ever to be sold in Whole Foods. By 2012, over 1,400 health food stores across North America, Europe and Russia were carrying Brain Toniq with over 2.5 million units a year.
The impetus behind Synaptic Scientific is to take all of the best superfoods that Scott has  been using himself for decades, and to create a small set of extremely potent, best-in-their-class formulas that have a noticeable, palpable effect on health, and to find a way to price them better than anything else in the marketplace.
His decades-long mission carries through in Synaptic Scientific, and that is to expose more and more people to the power and intelligence of using herbal plants as their main medicine cabinet.
Brain chemicals—serotonin, dopamine, oxytocin, and more—influence mood, mental health, and sound reasoning. Chemical imbalances of these can easily be caused by stress, bad dietary choices and the use of chemical stimulants.

  • Episode 173: 173 - TEACHING THE NEXT GENERATION OF BOYS - Josh Langley
On this weeks interview on the Secret MENS Business podcast we speak to children's book author Josh Langley about TEACHING THE NEXT GENERATION OF BOYS.
Through the act of storytelling and being listened to, we can connect to our past, others, and ourselves. Passing on our legacy through our stories is not only a way to teach our values, it is also the essence of passing on a sense of self worth and identity to the next generation of men.
We want our children to be happy, reach their potential, and live fulfilling lives. Increasingly, and especially in today’s awareness of inequality, we also aspire for them to be part of a fair and equal society.
Josh Langley was told he would amount to nothing in life, having failed high school (twice) and being unemployed for several years, but that didn’t stop Josh from becoming a multi award-winning radio copywriter and award-winning children’s author.
Josh’s debut children’s book, Being You is Enough changed the trajectory of his life. Written as a love letter to his 8-year-old self, it’s message of self-acceptance and love resonated with kids and parents around the world.  He went on to publish 9 books and in 2018 won the Australian Book Industry Awards Small Publishers’ Children’s Book of Year, for his second children’s book It’s Ok to Feel the Way You Do (Big Sky Publishing 2017).
Now his ground-breaking children’s books, programs and school talks on self-acceptance, resilience, understanding emotions and kindness, are helping thousands of kids make friends with themselves.
Josh lives on 7 and a half acres in the Southwest of Western Australia with his husband and his favourite food is tortellini. Josh is the ambassador for the Children’s Tumour Foundation and Camp Quality and was voted a Westfield Local Hero for the work he does with CTF.

  • Episode 172: 172 - BEING A HUMBLE MAN - Dave Gold - the Secret MENS Business podcast.
In this episode of the Secret MENS Business podcast we talk about Being a Humble man with global mens coach Dave Gold..
A humble person is more socially-oriented than self-centered. Being humble means you not only evaluate yourself with honesty, but also always seek honest feedback from people who matter. By getting other people's reviews, humble people ensure that they are not misguided about their own abilities.
A humble person is not proud and does not believe that they are better than other people. He gave a great performance, but he was very humble. Synonyms: modest, meek, unassuming, unpretentious More Synonyms of humble.
Humility attracts others and opportunities. So the less you boast and focus on yourself, the more others want to be with you and work with you. The concept that opposites attract applies to the character trait of humility.
Humble people are willing to see themselves accurately and appreciate feedback. Errors and mistakes provide feedback on one's own actions. So humble people see value in errors and the information that they provide for their own learning. This gives them an edge over others.

  • Episode 171: 171 - EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE - Daniel Tolson - the Secret MENS Business podcast
In this episode of the Secret MENS Business podcast we talk about Emotional Intelligence with renowned coach Daniel Tolson.
Emotional intelligence (otherwise known as emotional quotient or EQ) is the ability to understand, use, and manage your own emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, communicate effectively, empathise with others, overcome challenges and defuse conflict.
As a child, Daniel Tolson had Linear sequential learning disability. He was a slow learner. He had a curved spine. His hips were out of alignment. He couldn’t run. His knees would collapse when he was running.
    This is his story.....
This physical defect created pressure in my head, I was losing my vision. I couldn’t think properly. I was in so much pain physically.
In the end, my body collapsed under this tremendous stress, I developed chronic fatigue syndrome and contracted Epstein Barr virus and I had to drop out of school.
When I recovered my uncle took me under his wing and showed me the blueprint of how to become the top 10% in real estate. I took that blueprint, overcompensated with actions, became the top 1% performer, and bought my first home at the age of 19.
But I dreamt of becoming an Australian champion wakeboarder. So, I gave up the real estate career to pursue my dream. I had a lot of challenges. To overcome the fear and achieve my goal, I spent a lot of time and energy on personal development, learning how to systematically and methodically break barriers to achieve goals. Eventually, I became the Australian Wakeboarder Champion, not once, but three times.
That experience of creating my breakthrough and sustaining it set me up for a series of career highs, such as co-leading 17000 cabin crews, launching my own business, and building a global business that impacts more than 15,000 business people 100X their life and income.
In 2010, at the peak of my career, my wife was involved in an aircraft accident. It left her with some disabilities requiring multiple surgeries over the next 2.5 years. Eventually, she lost her job and was forced to leave the country. I left the job to join her back home to take care of her.
But 10 months and 500 job applications later, I was jobless. We were living with my grandmother, depending on Australian social security payments. It was the lowest point of my life. I was desperate. And I knew if I want to be a man who provides for my family, things must change.
I pulled myself together, used every tool and technology I have in my toolbox, got clarity on life, and launched my coaching business from my grandmother’s spare bedroom.
I wish I could say life was happy ever after. But no, success never comes on the first attempt. Richard Branson launched 400 companies before founding Virgin galactic. Steven Spielberg was rejected by Film School 3 times. I was betrayed by a business partner. I had to move countries several times. I was broke three times in 3 different countries and had to start all over again.
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialise in and why should someone work with you over the competition?
You can start by learning to identify the emotions you are feeling as well as understanding them. If you are able to name the emotion you are feeling, you have a better chance of understanding what you are feeling. You can also learn to better regulate your emotions just by stopping and thinking before you act and judge. These skills will help you martial inner resolve and stick to what really matters in life.
