The wonderful fellas from Butter were in the studio this week. Guitarist Aaron, bassist Tom, and drummer Jarrett make warm-but-glossy pop gems with juuuuuust the right amount of funk, soul, and electronic accoutrement - a sound that is, impossibly, great for both dancing AND long, contemplative walks. We talk musical growth, their excellent 2019 joint "Nicotene," and, yes, bodily fluids. Butter is gearing up for a return to the studio, but you can catch up and keep up with them at their website, butter.band, or on bandcamp.

Technical problems and light incompetence make this a lost episode of sorts, but it's worth the wait! Hilarious and prolific Portland comedian Hunter Donaldson joined us in July for a spirited conversation about Arkansas Lake Music, very specific board games, and introduced us to a little lady named Spaghefani. You can see Hunter every Thursday as a part of comedy showcase Earthquake Hurricane (at Ford Food & Drink), every Sunday for his show Comedy is Everything (at Alberta Street Pub), or via his board game podcast Space Cats Peace Turtles.

One of our all-time favorite guests from one of our all-time favorite bands. Andrea of Holy Grove is back, and she was ready for our nonsense this time. This episode has a bit of everything: bathtub wisdom, two-part harmonies, nuanced opinions on reggae, and some rippin' tunes. Andrea also dives deep into Holy Grove's second album, II, available now on the excellent Ripple Music label. II is a fully realized, confident, polished-and-rough-in-all-the-right-ways banger of an album, and it is a treat to hear Andrea discuss what makes it such a special achievement for the band. Catch Holy Grove live at Northwest Hesh Fest this Saturday, September 21 at Star Theater in Portland.
