This episode sets the stage for our Summer of Reset's deep dive into the nine tools of "Stronger Every Day: 9 Tools for an Emotionally Healthy You." Janell introduces and offers the audio meditation, "A Daily Practice," shaped after St. Ignatius's "A Daily Examen." Receive renewed vitality and experience the lavish love and grace of God. This one daily rhythm, when practiced regularly, helps us "reset" and reconnect to the deepest, truest part of ourselves and in doing so, triumph over any trauma we've faced in our lives.

Welcome to Season 6, Episode 2 where Janell flies solo and invites us all to catch our breath! Someone once said, "Life is lived forward and understood backwards," and that is what this episode is all about. As a teacher for most of her life, Janell values the power of a good review. Seasons 4 & 5 have brought great thinkers, leaders, and remarkable heartlifters to us. They have shared valuable wisdom, offered beautiful meditations and mindful moments, and given us a feast of words to savor. In this episode, Janell "re-minds" us of the great value of these past two seasons and invites us into a new season of RESET.

Welcome to SEASON 6, " A SUMMER RESET." To usher us into this new season, please welcome Gem and Alan Fadling, Authors and Founders of "Unhurried Living," a ministry dedicated to helping us rediscover the genius of Jesus' unhurried way of life and leadership. I am so honored to have this urgent conversation with them both, especially as the world recovers and re-opens from a global pandemic. How will we emerge from this very unnerving period in history? Will we go back to "normal," i.e., living that hurried life we all know so well, or will we emerge with a more central purpose and way of being? Today, we tackle some tough questions and offer hope for living an unhurried life AND we have a few great, soul-stretching laughs.

While I'm on my annual Beach Week with the fam, I thought I'd replay this remarkable conversation with Dr. Alison Cook. It's always a good reminder to practice setting healthy boundaries for your soul, especially when you're with the one you're closest to.
Dr. Alison Cook, Author of "Boundaries for Your Soul: How to Turn Your Overwhelming Thoughts and Feelings into Your Greatest Allies," asks this question: "Do you control your feelings or do your feelings control you?" Many of us allow guilt, anger, or self-criticism to dominate our inner lives, adversely affecting our relationships. In today's conversation, Janell and Alison have a great conversation about how to learn to love others without neglecting yourself.

Today, Meredith invites us into the Land of Want + Plenty, where we will develop a comforting awareness that we are seen, known, protected, and nourished by a good God in the person of Jesus.

Our guest today, Margaret Feinberg, Author of "More Power to You: Declarations to Break Free from Fear and Take Back Your Life," writes, "We are all storytellers, and I rehearsed the narrative that if I stopped working hard--in school, at college, as a writer--then everything would disintegrate. Including me. Soon I interpreted every failure and misstep as further proof that I would never be good enough. Perhaps you, too, have sensed the pangs of not being good enough...Today is the day to break free from the unrealistic standards you've been striving to achieve. Declare the words, 'I am God's beloved child in whom he is well pleased.'" In our vibrant conversation, Margaret shares a 90-second daily challenge that changed her life. I believe it will change yours, too.

As we come to the close of our "Becoming Stronger" series, Janell hoped and prayed several guests would honor us with their wisdom and grace. When Caroline Williams, founder of "The Abbey," an at-home yoga sanctuary of peace, presence, and belonging for the lover of God who is aching to feel whole, said yes, Janell was filled with both gratitude and excitement. Caroline's teaching on yoga and meditation has been a spiritual lifeline during COVID-19, and her wise teaching on the practice of yoga an even greater lifeline to SO MANY desiring to become stronger and more whole every single day. Please listen with an open mind and heart and enjoy Caroline's beautiful, "I love you," meditation at the close of the episode. I pray this "gift" is a blessing to your heart, mind, and body.

Author and Guest, Carol McLeod, writes, "Mother. It is impossible to hear that word without emotion. What do you feel, deep down, when you read the word 'mother?' Any why does the word mother carry so much power to create emotion? Whether we want to acknowledge it or not, our mother left us a legacy. For some of us, that legacy is unadulterated love; for others, the legacy is devastating heartbreak and loss. And for most of us, the legacy is a mixture of both belonging and pain." With May, comes Mother's Day. A time in our world where we set aside one Sunday to honor our mothers. Having just lost her own 92-year-old Mom to COVID-19, this Mother's Day will be a tender one for Janell. So join Janell and guest, Carol McLeod, for an honest, heartlifting conversation about becoming stronger mothers.

While recording the podcast session, "Becoming Stronger through the Unexplainable," author and Bible Teacher, Erica Wiggenhorn, shared an old story about Niagra Falls, a man, and a wheelbarrow. She added a few details of her own and the story pierced Janell's heart. It was a word in due season and exactly what Janell (and listeners) needed to hear. Per Janell's request, Erica willingly and lovingly recorded this meditative exercise so that we could listen to it, again and again. Whenever you are facing "the unexplainable," grab your headphones, find a quiet spot, and listen again. You will have to answer that hard question, "Will I get into the wheelbarrow?"
