Here in our FINAL EPISODE of Season 6, we talk about TOOL 9, "Save Mental Energy for the Essentials," and talk all about the power of human connection. We can't and won't heal alone. We need community. My brain needs your brain. My heart needs your heart. It is a proven fact. Janell shares a powerful story from her travels in Kenya, "Kiss the Four Walls," and invites each of us to examine what is essential in our lives, right now, and in doing so save vital mental energy for creating the meaningful lives we all desire.

In January 2019, while attending a Young Living Rally on "Essential Oils and Emotional Health," a friend mentioned "Aroma Freedom Technique" and said, "Janell, you must know about this." The next Friday, I began my certification to become a practitioner of Aroma Freedom Technique (AFT), and I haven't looked back yet. In a whirlwind of the power of timing + answered prayer, I found an emotional health modality that enabled men, women, and children to experience memory consolidation and healing from trauma-informed behaviors and patterns. Since that time, I have personally witnessed miraculous moments of emotional healing. Today, we hear firsthand from the founder and creator of Aroma Freedom Technique, Dr. Benjamin Perkus.

Have you ever felt emotionally frozen or stuck or paralyzed even? Some trigger goes off inside and you are unable to move. Sometimes, panic sets in, as it did in my life. While on a missions trip to Kenya in 2015, I found myself stuck on a staircase, unable to move. Today, I share a story from TOOL 8, Soar in Emotionally Healthy Skies, in hopes that my story helps inform your story. You do not have to remain emotionally STUCK! By implementing trauma-informed tools, like Memory Reconsolidation, you can be set free and make actually SOAR like an eagle.

For over three decades, Janell has studied the idea of prayer + meditation. There is a great deal written on meditation, but it can often be misrepresented within the faith community. During her own journey of study, Janell found a powerful quote that spoke so clearly on "why" we need the spiritual discipline of meditation. Puritan preacher-writer, Thomas Manton, beautifully writes, "Meditation is a middle sort of duty between the word and prayer, and has respect to both. The word feeds meditation, and meditation feeds prayer. These duties must always go hand in hand; meditation must follow hearing and precede prayer. To hear and not to meditate is unfruitful. We may hear and hear, but it is like putting a thing into a bag with holes... It is rashness to pray and not to meditate. What we take in by the word we digest by meditation and let out by prayer. These three duties must be ordered that one may not jostle out the other. Men are barren, dry, and sapless in their prayers for want of exercising themselves in holy thoughts." Today, we welcome Author and fellow Christian Meditation student + teacher, Sarah Geringer, to the podcast to talk about her book, "Transforming Your Thought Life," and how Christian meditation helps us do that!

In Tool 6 of "Stronger Every Day: 9 Tools for an Emotionally Healthy You," I offer a meditative exercise, "Come, Sit By the Well," based on the powerful "Jesus Encounter" the famed Woman at the Well experienced one ordinary afternoon in her hometown. We, too, can encounter Jesus. Sometimes, he shows up in very unexpected ways. Sometimes we even entertain "angels unaware" (Hebrews 13:2). Find a quiet spot or just put your headphones on and experience some calm amid your daily chaos. Listen for God-whispers and know, Heartlifter, how very much you are loved.
