The workplace is forever evolving and now more than ever we are focusing on new ways to improve the employee experience, increase retention and create strong work communities. Sometimes, however, positive changes can have a downside. In this episode, Aaron Hurst shares his findings after speaking to CHROs about how their companies are experiencing new workplace trends, like: remote work, use of collaboration tools like slack, diversity, open workspaces and shorter tenures.

Plans for these types of events should be created and continually reviewed, modified and updated as circumstances change - and it is never too late to get started.
This episode discusses 5 areas where HR should focus and questions to ask to create or update a checklist for creating employee policies and communications during this virus outbreak.

Some employees talk about skipping exit interviews altogether, but I say NO! When done well, exit interviews can be helpful because learning about employee experiences and making improvements can help to increase employee retention.
Employees should be encouraged to participate in exit interviews and issues with exit interviews are not necessarily about the interviews themselves. There are things HR can do in addition to the conducting exit interviews to make the interviews more effective and this episode includes 3 tips for improving their overall effectiveness.

Mastermind groups can be used for many things, including personal and professional development, solving problems, innovation and more. In this episode, I speak with Erich Kurschat, founder of the HR Hotseat - who has taken mastermind groups to a new level, evolving them into mastermind communities.
Erich explains the overall concept of mastermind groups, effective practices, the differences between the smaller groups and the overlying mastermind community and how these groups can be used to innovate HR practices.
Mastermind groups can be used for much more than innovating HR. HR can use these groups within companies with the same impact. Employees that participate in these groups internally can have a greater sense of community and professional development which helps to increase retention and reduce attrition.

In this episode of the HR Fix, Enrique Rubio, PMP, CSM, founder of Hacking HR joins me to discuss his perspective on having an entrepreneurial mindset to help HR evolve. We discuss what drives people to pursue an entrepreneurial way forward, challenges along the way, sacrifices, dealing with doubters and much more.
Having an entrepreneurial mindset is not limited to people going out to develop their own product or service. It can also happen within a company or as a side-hustle.
HR is in a unique position to recreate itself and adopting an entrepreneurial mindset can help to accelerate the evolution of HR.
Internally, encouraging an entrepreneurial mindset (both in HR and within the greater company) promotes creativity and helps to make employees feel like valuable contributors. This ultimately makes happier employees and helps increase retention.
