The Ian Furness Show

What's especially telling about the Larry Scott departure announcement isn't just the excitement from fans, it's the excitement from within the conference. Just listen to how full of joy Kirk Schulz seems to be today. The Big Sky Conference plans to play football in the spring, potentially giving that conference a chance to get far more of the spotlight than it typically does, but as with so many things in our world today, plans may be forced to change. Ian talks with Aaron Best, head coach at Eastern Washington about the current situation. Will we see spring football? Texts react to the Larry Scott news, and Softy makes his opinions known during cross talk.

We've been waiting and waiting to see if high school athletics and activities will return this school year in Washington. It could happen here soon, and the WIAA's Executive Director Mick Hoffman has all of the details. Several well-respected baseball writers ran with a story that Michael Brantley had signed to the Blue Jays, and they all ended up being wrong. The Penguins come back to win in overtime. We've got the highlights on the Daily Power Play. Philip Rivers retires. We remember some of his greatest moments.

As we wait to find out who the new offensive coordinator will be, we pick Mike Holmgren's brain about what coaches look for when hiring an OC, and what Russell Wilson is looking for from the hire. Also, is it really too much to ask to get an O-line that can both pass and run block? Finally, we get Coach's take on the controversial touchback rule. He and Kevin aren't on the same page. Speaking of the touchback rule, what should the penalty be for a fumble in the end zone? Texts react to the show at 49451. Softy reacts during cross talk.

Mike Holmgren joins Ian every Wednesday at 2pm to talk about all things Seahawks and NFL. His weekly appearance is brought to you by Windermere Real Estate, Toyota of Kirkland, Team Bruce with Guild Mortgage, Car Toys, Stihl, and Redbox.

Now that the Hawks' season is over, it's time to start that close look at the team to figure out where improvements are needed. We turn to PFF's Steve Palazzolo to find out which positions he believes Seattle can upgrade the furthest. Highlights from a St. Louis Blues victory, and could the Canucks head coach lead the Kraken starting next year? That and more on the Daily Power Play. This isn't just Something Good, it's Something Great: Brandon Huffman announces exciting changes to the Avery Huffman DIPG Foundation, and a KJR listener makes a big donation.

Continuing our conversation from last hour with Steve Palazzolo, we take a look at the greatest positions of need on both sides of the ball for the Hawks. Jerry Dipoto spoke today about his expectations for the 2021 season, and we compare his comments to those he made before the 2018 and 2019 seasons. Shouldn't the goal be to win the division, run through the playoffs, and hopefully win a World Series? It seems like the bar is being set a bit low once again. Yes, a shortened 2020 season set back the development of this team, but it's time to expect real advancement. Texts tell us to embrace the defeatist attitude coming from the M's front office. Softy reacts to Pete Kwiatkowski taking off to coach with Sark.
