The Ian Furness Show

With San Francisco in the Super Bowl, it's time to check in again with KNBR's John Lund. How did this 49ers team get to where they are today? Texts explain how the Seahawks are wasting Russell Wilson's best years. Softy is back and fired up after a bad weekend; 49ers win and Huskies lose.

Ian is broadcasting from the King Showcase at the ShoWare Center in Kent, featuring some of the best high school basketball teams in the area all day long. We start off the show talking with Washington State's new football coach in his first interview with the Seattle media. Nick Rolovich talks with Ian about his recruiting strategy, a potential defensie coordinator hire, the run-and-shoot offense, and the importance of winning the Apple Cup. Since we're down here in the home of the Thunderbirds, it makes sense to talk a little hockey with TBirds GM Bill La Forge. How is youth hockey growing around the state, and who are the next NHL stars currently on the TBirds roster?

We now know who we'll see in Miami in two weeks; the Niners and the Chiefs. Two teams that are fun to watch with interesting backstories. For the season, from an unbiased NFL fan's perspective, it's probably the ideal matchup. In case you missed it, Mike Holmgren and Hugh Millen discussed the Niners offense on the morning show this morning. Frank Clark was fired up after the game in Kansas City last night. The Seahawks have great leaders in the locker room, but the one thing they haven't had this season is the fired up guy who isn't afraid to run his mouth and back it up. Felix has signed a $1 million contract for a non-roster spot in Atlanta. Dick Fain joins the show as he gets ready for an abbreviated show before the basketball game.

We've made it to arguably the best Sunday in football, conference championship weekend. We get two great games with four of the best teams in football, including one interesting storyline in the Tennessee Titans. Is this in fact the best Sunday in football, or is that Super Bowl Sunday? Yesterday, newly-named WSU head coach Nick Rolovich made his first public appearance since joining the team. Former Cougar coach Jim Walden reacts to the Rolovich hire, and offers some advice. What's the one thing he needs to know about this job? Earlier today, Jeff Nelson had strong words for the players caught up in the Astros cheating scandal. We play the highlights and discuss.

Conference championships are this weekend. Will the weather in Kansas City impact the AFC game? We get the latest from Ian Rapoport, plus insight into the latest OC hirings and rumors, and is Odell Beckham Jr. really in that much trouble? We talked to NFL Draft insider Rob Rang a bit yesterday about the upcoming Senior Bowl. Today, we go into more detail about who to pay attention to in the game. Of the group of pass rushers in the draft, who are the Seahawks likely looking at? Texts weigh in on the best football Sunday of the year. Is there a difference between that, and the best football weekend? Softy didn't seem too impressed with Nick Rolovich's press conference yesterday. He explains on cross-talk.
