The Ian Furness Show

For the fifth year in a row, Ian is live at the Washington Athletic Club for the Morris Trophy presentation and luncheon honoring the best offensive and defensive linemen in the Pac-12. This year, it's Oregon left tackle Penei Sewell, and Utah defensive end Bradlee Anae. While we're focused on linemen today, Ian and Curtis Crabtree spend a few minutes discussing he future of the defensive line for the Seahawks with so many guys being free agents. Is bringing back Clowney the top priority? What about Jarran Reed who didn't have the season we'd hoped? We're joined by Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal discussing his left tackle Penei Sewell. Utah defensive end Bradlee Anae stops by, talking about winning the Morris Trophy, and the next step to playing in the NFL.

Rob Rang of NFL Draft Scout is hanging out with us for the Morris Trophy awards at the WAC this afternoon. He gives his analysis of Bradlee Anae and Penei Sewell, plus a preview of next week's Senior Bowl. It was two years ago that WSU quarterback Tyler Hilinski took his own life. We spent a few minutes paying tribute to him, and the efforts his family has made to promote suicide prevention through Hilinski's Hope. Newly-named Washington State head football coach Nick Rolovich makes his first appearance in front of the media, and we carry the press conference live.

The Hawks are out of the playoffs, and much like 30 of the other 31 fanbases across the country, we're looking for answers as to how to improve. As usual, the blame seems be be leveled at coaching, and Pete Carroll is taking a lot of heat from some fans. Be careful what you wish for. We've been fvery lucky to have had to consistent success we've had since Carroll has been here. Instability at coach and/or GM is certainly not better, and it's likely that's what we'd get if we moved on. It's not easy to win a Super Bowl Outside of Belichick and the Patriots, no team makes it all the way even close to consistently. We've been to the divisional round seven times in the past ten seasons. That in and of itself is remarkable. There are certainly improvements to be made however, and the next step is to start looking at free agency.

As we put a wrap on the 2019 Seahawks season, and look at how to improve next year, we check in with legendary coach Mike Holmgren. Ian asks how difficult it is to stay on top, and what he'd say to Brian Schottenheimer about the offense.
