The Ian Furness Show

Ian has arrived in the frozen tundra, the bustling metropolis of Green Bay, Wisconsin as he gets ready for the game against the Packers, now just two days away. We talk a lot on this show about how lucky we are as Hawks fans that we've got Pete Carroll and John Schneider running things, and it remains true. It's been ten years since the two joined the team, and this is the seventh time in those ten seasons that the Hawks have been playing on divisional weekend. There was a time that people weren't sure if this would work, and a time when rumors floated around that behind the scenes, things weren't working, yet here we are. Now let's beat the Packers and move on to the NFC Championship. What will it take to get that done. We check in with Greg Cosell to get his in-depth preview of this weekend's game. Much of the coaching decisions have been made (except of course the Browns). With news and thoughts on all the changes, Ian Rapoport.

In case you missed it the other day, we caught up with KJ Wright at the VMAC. Highlights from the interview we play here. The entire interview can be found on the podcast page. Curtis Crabtree is out at the VMAC. He's got injury updates and more. The college football championship game is Monday night and Rob Rang of NFL Draft Scout fills us in on who to watch for. Mike Leach has finally accepted another job, and some WSU fans are pretty stressed about it, but Ian has said he was probably ready for a new chapter for WSU anyway. So, the big question now is who takes the job? Who can we get to coach on the Palouse? It'an exciting time with lots of potential, but much like Jimmy Lake at Washington right now, we're entering The Great Unknown.

Greg Cosell is one of the brightest minds in football and his genius can be seen every week on NFL Matchup. If you want to hear what he thinks about the Seahawks game, check him out with Ian every Friday at 1:20pm breaking down their upcoming game. He is on thanks to Farrelli's Pizza - Artisan Pizza Cooked on Stone in Front of an Open Flame. They're the best pizza in Western WA, best sports bar in Western WA, and they have all the beer you could want!

Tune in every Friday at 2pm for two Ians. Ian Furness welcomes Ian Rapoport from NFL Network to go over all of the biggest news of the day in the National Football League from fines to suspensions, and injuries to signings, brought to you by Redbox, the smarter way to watch and play.

Chambers Bay Distillery sponsors Ian's visit with Rob Rang of NFLDraftScout.com on Fridays at 220pm. CBD is a small local distillery founded by two local guys, Alan and Jeff where their mission is simple, "To Create Uniquely Extraordinary Spirits"... Featuring Ghost Dog Whiskey, Raan (rhymes with Pawn) Vodka and their CBD Bourbon which is aged in a boathouse above the waters of Puget Sound

We first started reporting the possibility yesterday, and today it's official; Mike Leach has taken the head coaching job at Mississippi State. Just a month ago, Leach signed a one-year extension, good through 2024, which led us to think that maybe he'd stay for now, but clearly that did not happen. Leach is taking an SEC job that's closer to home, but one also wonders if he had beaten Washington a time or two if things wouldn't be different. He'd have had a better shot at the Pac-12 Championship, and recruiting within the state would have been helped as well. This leaves a big coaching vacancy over in Pullman, so what's next for the school? Christian Caple usually covers the Huskies for The Athletic but he's keeping close tabs on this situation. We bring him on the show to give us updates. Ian of course has thoughts on the move. We catch up with him as he makes his way to Green Bay. On Something Good, Australians give American firefighters a round of applause as they arrive to help fight the bushfires.

The first hour of the show was entirely taken up with the news that Mike Leach is taking a coaching job down South. This hour, we get back to talking Seahawks. Longtime Green Bay Packer A. J. Hawk talks with us about this weekend's Hawks and Packers game. What is it about these two teams every time they play that causes such wild games? Texts at 49451 tell us what the Cougs should do next at the coaching position. Softy reacts to Mike Leach leaving. Husky fans are disappointed. After all, no coach has ever had less success against UW.
