The Ian Furness Show

Chambers Bay Distillery sponsors Ian's visit with Rob Rang of NFLDraftScout.com on Fridays at 220pm. CBD is a small local distillery founded by two local guys, Alan and Jeff where their mission is simple, "To Create Uniquely Extraordinary Spirits"... Featuring Ghost Dog Whiskey, Raan (rhymes with Pawn) Vodka and their CBD Bourbon which is aged in a boathouse above the waters of Puget Sound

For the second day in a row, Ian is out in the field. Today, he's at Sounders Media Day at CenturyLink Field. The Bryce Harper saga is finally over as he signed a 13 year (!) $330 million contract with the Phillies. It seemed like maybe the era of long-term contracts was over, but clearly it's not. Harper is young, so he's only under contract until he's 39, but obviously 13 years is a long time. As Ian continues his broadcast from Sounders Media Day, he's joined by team vice captain Stefan Frei who talks about why this year's club is better than last year's. Head coach Brian Schmetzer has been involved in Seattle soccer for a long time. He discusses how far things have come in this town, and how important it is for the Sounders to avoid the typical slow start.

Ian continues live from Sounders Media Day as the Media Match is about ot begin. General manager Garth Lagerwey sits down with Ian for a few minutes to discuss the 2019 season, and evaluate the Media Match players (they aren't going pro). Australia native defender Brad Smith has played soccer around the world. He evaluates the talent in the MLS, discusses hsi style of play, and more. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll made some interesting comments at the Combine today. We've got the audio. More entertaining than that though, is Ian's play-by-play of the Media Match. Maybe it was a bad idea to ask him to do a show with this much amusement in front of him. Softy drops in before his show, and the player everyone's been watching at the Media Match, Jackson Felts, is out with an injury.

The WIAA Hardwood Classic is underway at the Tacoma Dome, continuing through Saturday, and Ian is broadcasting live from down there this afternoon. There's been a lot said about youth sports with the AAU issues, concussions, etc., but youth sports are still incredibly important, and this tournament highlights the great things about high school sports perfectly. The Combine is about to get underway in Indianapolis. Not only is it the chance to check out some of the top draft prospects, but also a chance to hear from John Schneider who doesn't speak to the media often. Q13's Aaron Levine got to speak with Schneider for a few minutes. He joins us to talk about the interview, plus a number of other Seahawks off-season topics. On today's Something Good, a man buys hundreds of dollars of Girl Scout cookies so the girls don't have to stand outside, and a boy born without part of his hand, paying it forward.

We continue live from the WIAA Hardwood Classic at the Tacoma Dome, going on through Saturday. Last hour, Kevin's Something Good story involved a man spending hundreds of dollars on Girl Scout cookies so the girls didn't have to stand outside in the cold. Well, there's a follow-up. The man is now facing drug charges, which means he probably paid for the cookies with drug money. Oh well, still something food for the Girl Scouts. Donald Watts stops by to talk about the Hardwood Classic, and the importance of youth sports. Washington Interscholastic Activities Association Executive Director Mike Colbrese, who is retiring after 25 years, calls in to discuss the accomplishments of the WIAA while he's been there. Dick Fain is in Maui, so Softy is on his own this afternoon. We hear from him before the show is done.
