The Ice Garden

Michelle and Hannah have Gabs Fundaro on the podcast this week. Gabs is The Ice Garden’s NCAA writer and also covers the NCAA at her own site, At Even Strength. We cover the full range of college hockey topics — from how the tournament is playing out to our Patty Kazmaier thoughts to how we would decide which players to recruit if we were coaches.

Hannah and Michelle look back at what predictions they got wrong (many) and right (some). There's an intense discussion about how to improve the NCAA championship setup and we also talk about what you do when one of your playoff teams gets stranded in New York because of unexpected weather.(Minnesota nice? More like Minnesota ICE)

Michelle and Hannah chat about NWHL and CWHL playoffs! They make predictions, get confused, and Michelle can't stop thinking about a sweater she wants. This was recorded before the NWHL play-in game so we did not yet know if we would be right or wrong. Just mentally go back in time and pretend its Tuesday night with us.

Metropolitan Riveters alternate captain Kiira Dosdall knows a thing or two about beating Buffalo. She picked up an assist in a 4-3 OT shooutout win against the Buffalo Beauts on Sunday to secure home ice for her one and only NWHL team.

For Dosdall, the win seemed a bit familiar. We talked with Dosdall before Tuesday practice about a similar 4-3 shoot out win over Buffalo, and the road ahead to defend her 2018 Isobel Cup Championship (secured in a 1-0 victory over ... you guessed it, Buffalo).

We’ve got scoops! We’ve got news! We’ve got the penultimate week of the 2018-19 season to break down! It’s time for the latest episode of your favorite NWHL-centric podcast, the Founding 4 Podcast with Erica Ayala and Mike Murphy!

This week on the show we discuss Katie Fitzgerald’s solid performance in the Riveters’ 4-1 loss to the Beauts last Saturday and discuss why she needs to be the team’s starter moving forward. The other game from last weekend was even more thought-provoking than the first! The Boston Pride thwacked the Whale 6-1 on Sunday, but the scoreline wasn’t the story — the new faces in Connecticut’s lineup was what had everyone buzzing.

We also catch you up on some interesting developments out of the Riveters camp and an answer an unforgettable question from the mailbag. Remember to tweet your questions and topics to us for next week’s show!

Oh dear, here we go.

On this week of the Founding 4 Podcast our co-hosts Erica Ayala and Mike Murphy discuss the Boston Pride’s 8-1 mauling of the Metropolitan Riveters in Newark. We discuss Mary Parker’s Veda Player of the Week performance, Gigi Marvin’s big game, and Kaleigh Fratkin’s four assist offensive outburst. But that’s not all...

Our co-hosts also talk about Jillian Dempsey scoring her way into the record books, some of the many things that are currently ailing the Riveters, including the surprising recent healthy scratch of Katie Fitzgerald. We look at the performance of some of the NWHL’s brightest stars in the 2019 Rivalry Series between Team USA and Team Canada, and we answer a very full mailbag!

In other words, we have a pretty jam-packed show even though we only had one NWHL game to break down. So get your headphones or speakers ready and tune in to your favorite NWHL-centric podcast!
