In this episode, I unpack the rhetorical themes behind the 60 sec script for my upcoming fundraiser. These principles can be replicated for almost any situation: public speaking, selling, recruiting, asking for a raise, etc. Enjoy!
Copied below is the script for anyone that's interested in reading it:
A lot of us right now are experiencing a return to freedom.
We’re going to restaurants, some of us are traveling again, and we’re seeing friends and family that we haven’t seen in a really long time.
That being said, there’s still an entire people group, though, that won’t experience this same freedom that we will - I’m talking about victims of human trafficking.
And I don’t know about you guys, but it’s tough for me to go about my life as normal, knowing that these people are suffering.
That’s why, this November, I’m gonna do something I’ve never done before in order to raise awareness and money to help these people…
I’m gonna run 50 freakin' miles.
I’m calling this run the #freedomfifty and you can participate in 3 ways:
So my question to you is: are you willing to jump in on this fight with us? We’d love to have you. Find the details below!

In today's episode, I unpack a psychological study on the influence that conformity has on our choices and actions. The idea for this episode was inspired by an interesting question I received from a Patreon subscriber who didn't want to be persuaded into buying a timeshare.
Disclaimer: today's episode is meant to illuminate how outside entities may try to influence or manipulate us via the power of conformity. This is definitely something to consider when it comes to advertising messages around us, including those pertaining to divisive social issues!
My hope is that this study would help us to: 1) recognize when this type of influence is occurring; and 2) help us to stand firm with our beliefs!
Lastly, I came across this study while reading Jonah Berger's, "Invisible Influence". I'd highly recommend the book if you're interested in digging deeper on this topic on your own!
Enjoy!

A lot of persuasion has to do with saying "yes" to something that terrifies you (asking someone on a date, asking for a raise, etc). On this episode, I share a recent example of a time from my own life when I said "yes" to something that absolutely terrified me. Enjoy!

On today's episode, I share a sure shot to shutting out chagrin. Just listen to it. You'll see what I mean.
Really though - have you ever had an incredible first visit with someone (date, job interview, investor meeting, sales pitch), only to be let down several days later when that person showed zero interest in meeting again? In this episode, I unpack some phrasing that you can use at the end of a great first meeting to help ensure/solidify a second meeting.
Enjoy!

On today's episode, I share a psychological study that corroborates information from one of my previous episodes "How to influence others using the friendship formula"(ep. 21). Learn about the hidden factors behind some of our decision making and how we can use those factors to become more likeable! Enjoy!
