I was speaking with a friend of mine (who's Christian) who said she was celibate and would continue to be so until she married again. I asked her why would she take such a stance and she replied "we put too much emphasis on sex instead of God" I said didn't God create sex? aren't people in the Church having sex, even those who aren't married? when did sex become such a bad thing? how can something that gives you such a beautiful feeling be deemed detramental to a relationship? As I started asking the many questions that came to the forefront of my mind I realized this is a great discussion for men & women to have, we think different, see things different and expect different things from each other as we enter the sacred grounds of a realtionship. I remember being a young adult (before I was in the music business) and seeing the SOLAR Records Tour "Galaxy Of Stars" in the early 80's at the Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento. It featured Artist like "The Whispers, Midnight Star, Shalamar, Lakeside & Klymaxx (just to name a few)all of these Artist recorded for one label, SOLAR Records it stood for Sounds Of Los Angeles Records and a tough & gruff guy named Dick Griffey was running the show. What made SOLAR Records so interesting to me was Dick Griffey was a Black Man in charge of his own Record Label and I wanted to be just like him and some years later I was able to live that dream.... As I look at the United States of America and the struggles we are now going thru as a Country the question of America's future stability has to be asked...... USC has just been fined, Championship & Heisman Trophies taken and suspensions handed down, all because people are talking, testifying & snitching about how they run their football program. Why should Universities be Punished for this, shouldn't college athletes be paid, there is no guarantee they'll make it to the pro's or leave college injury free. Slavery in this country happened, it is real.... African American people & their ancestors suffered deep wounds because of this disgusting and disturbing act of human bondage and it happened in these United States of America, some people say the jim crow laws that carried slavery past it's supposed ending (emanicipation proclamation) still exists in certain parts of the south & south east. This may be so, but the real question for me is why do we want to avoid the discussion of slavery and act as tho it never existed, I along with Dr. Julian Hayter (Doctrate in African American History) will discuss this and other provocative issues concerning black folk and the affects of slavery on our young black population (if any). I said the word Vagina and people became outraged, I asked questions about this word that some thought should not have been spoken in a public forum and they were disappointed, some who knew me well even questioned my character because I asked questions about the word Vagina and it's use orally and otherwise.... I ask you to join me in a discussion on words and how/why they can cause us to fight, put ourselves in life & death situations or discontinue friendships as I did (not purposely but for the exercise it was necessary if it had to happen) hopefully those few who discontinued our friendship will rethink their position in lue of finding out this was all an excercise.... He was over 40 years old, never had a real love, never came close to marraige, never met a woman who moved his spirit enough to see her as a serious candidate for consideration in his life. She was 8 yrs old, in the friendly place in the world (disney world) and the most unfriendliest thing that could happen to a child happened to her. She was molested by a 15 yr old female who was her best friends sister, from there her life became entangled in mischief, danger & more sex, more than any young person should ever want to see.
