  • Making Dollars And Sense out of The New Music Business
on May 23rd 2010 We are embarking on a changing world all around and it's being noticed everywhere, especially in the music business.... I have heard everything from the music business is dying to the music business is completely dead, there's no more money to be made in music, all music today sucks or people aren't buying music anymore because you can get music free over the internet... Well people i'm here to tell you NONE of these statements are TRUE!! The music business is alive and well, there's still lots of money to be made in music, there's some great music out here today & people are buying more music today than ever before.
I will be discussing these statements & answering questions about the music business. Everything from music publishing, to how to collect back royalties.... how to do a fair split when there's more than 2 writers, manufacturing & publishing, marketing & promotions, licensing and song placements. If you or someone you know might be interested in this please tune into our show www.blogtalkradio.com/jay-king or call in at 347-205-9366 or show timw is 2pm pst

  • Why does America help others before we help our own citizens?
It seems that whenever there's a crisis anywhere else in the world, America & Americans are the first in line to lend a helping hand but when it comes to our own citizens (unless it's a catastrophic event)we pretty much let people fin for themselves. Is this kind of thinking spawned from our Government? remember Katrina (New Orleans) how horrible our response time was to this event? the help we didn't provide? Kanye West saying "President Bush doesn't like Black People" you take this event versus any catastrophe you can name outside of the United States and our response time & financial commitment is monumental in comparison.
We here on "The Way I See It" want to know why we're so quick to help others but not our own citizens??....If you agree or disagree please join us Sunday, April 25th from 2-4pm at www.blogtalkradio.com/jay-king and let us know what you think. Robert Redwine & I (Jay King) look forward to having you as our guest and if you're not on the net you can call in at 347-205-9366 and listen in or state your opinion, we hope you decide to tune in!

  • Is there really a such thing as the greatest anything??
My cousin and I were talking the other day and we were discussing whether Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the Greatest pound for pound boxer the world has ever known or is it Ali? most everyone said Ali but a few said Floyd was, some said Sugar Ray Robinson (whom Ali fasioned his style after) while others said Sugar Ray Leonard. Well I got to thinking, how do any of us know who the greatest was in any anything? I mean when you think about it, if you ask who's the Greatest in Baseball you'll get everybody from Babe Ruth to Wille Mays, while others will say, Joe Dimaggio or Hank Arron and in more recent years you'll hear the names Barry Bonds or A-Rod, Basketball & Football will spark the same debates as will acting, music, comedy and even politics & religion.
On "the way i see it" we will be discussing if there's a such thing as the greatest anything and if there is, what's the criteria that consitutes who is the greatest at his/her particular craft and why that particular person might stand out more than his/her contemporaries. If this subject interests you join us at www.blogtalkradio.com/jay-king Sunday, April 18th from 2-4pm pacific standard time or call in at 347-205-9366 as Robert Redwine & I (Jay King) discuss this topic, we hope you feel compelled to join in or just sit back and listen, we promise to be informative, entertaining & funny!!!

  • the quality of Music getting Poorer or am I just not Hip enough to keep up with the sound of today?
When I was a kid, I heard Music, and lots of it!! everything from the jackson 5 to James Brown & Aretha Franklin (the King & Queen of Soul, respectively) I Heard Marvin Gaye (my favorite) & Easter Phillips, Con Funk Shun (home town heroes-Vallejo) & Earth, Wind & Fire. The Isley Brothers & The Commodores, The Sylvers & The Osmonds, Thelonios Monk, Miles Davis, Donald Bird, Natalie Cole, Minnie Ripperton, Sly & the Family Stone and Slave, Lenny Williams, Rick James (biatch) and Teena Marie, the Beatles, Bread, Seals & Croft, the Doobie Brothers and I'm just skimming over the top of all the music I heard.
Fact is I still hear this music today, loud and clear and I don't know if it's me or if that music is just so much better than what I hear in music today. I'm not saying there arent any standouts today (Alisha Keys, Anthony Hamilton, Rashaan Patterson, Ledisi, ) But I still need to continue having music from the 30's to the 80's as part of my listening diet. Am I just so old (musically that is) like back in the day with the old jazz heads, that I just don't want to accept the changing of musical styles and the new fresh sounds that are being produced today? or do I have a legitimate beef with todays music? Simply put for me music is like Hamburgers & Steaks, today is Hamburger only good when it's hot and the older music is like Steaks gets better as it gets older.
If you have an opinion on this subject or you just want to hear what we have to say please tune in to our show "the way i see it" at www.blogtalkradio.com/jay-king or call in at 347-205-9366 Sunday, April 11th, 2010 from 2-4pm pacific standard time as Robert Redwine & I (Jay King) discuss this subject and the effect music has had on our society & lives with each other & you...

  • Interracial Dating Continued
We continue with the discussion of interracial dating and how it effects the black community, if black women are dating outside their race more out of vengence or is it true love they've found?, are black men continuing this trend because of the communication breakdown between black men & women?, because of the very aggressive and combative stance some black women take? or because they're finding a happier lifestyle and more compatible mate? we'll be asking and answering these and more questions on our show "the way i see it" sunday, april 4th, 2010 at www.blogtalkradio.com/jay-king from 2-4pm pacific standard time or call in at 347-205-9366 to listen in or state your opinion, we want to hear what you have to say!!!
