Would you believe that every person has the potential to be a New York Times bestselling author, grammy winning musician, oscar winning actor, olympic gold medalist, prom queen, world’s best mom, employee of the year, or any other role we might think of as amazing, inspiring, and achieving? What seems to stop most of us is fear. Ironically it does not seem to be fear of failure but fear of being successful. I have had a book idea called Speaker Meeting 2017 for months that I have a huge passion for and as a reader would absolutely love to read another person’s speaker meeting book in the exact same format. Why then have I been dodging doing this book like it is my job? I have made everything but this book! Many of the videos I have made have been nothing more than lame attempts to get views with no passion. Hours and hours have passed where I could have wrote a book from my heart and soul while instead I settled for doing what was easy. This is the trap nearly every artist in any form whether it be amazing parent, helpful sibling, or a heartfelt teacher is likely to get into. What happens if I really do make a bestselling book? If I really share from the heart, then I will have no excuse and nowhere to hide when the critics shred the work to pieces. I am learning today as a video producer, musician, teacher, dad, husband, friend, and family member to share from the heart. In most of my personal life, I have had huge breakthroughs and improvements. Now I am grateful to see the same in my work with today finally starting my Speaker Meeting 2017 book. While I have made a lot of videos which involved hardly any fear, I was very nervous to record the first chapter today. Resistance to this book has come in many forms and today I am seeing that is my sign that there is my work to do. Even in doing this podcast episode, I realized I had not completed my exercise from yesterday which nearly blocked me from doing this podcast episode with you because I was afraid of showing up and telling you I forgot to do what I said I was going to do yesterday! Thankfully I realized fear was blocking me from doing the episode and after taking time to google my question from yesterday, I stopped short of signup and did the podcast. My exercise today is to now follow up with the one from yesterday because there must also be fear there of having my problem solved. What if I am able to cut the interest rates on my student loans in half and cut the payment down to 7 years instead of 30? Fear of success is an absurd and powerful fear today I am just learning about and am happy to share here with you today. Thank you for reading this and I hope you enjoy this episode of Happier People podcast!
